Job Description Summary

The GE Renewable Offshore Wind Projects EHS Leader will demonstrate accountability for project objectives and strategy as well as supporting the implementation of EHS programs during ITO and OTR phases. The candidate will work in close partnership with the business Project Office and the EHS leadership team to support safe and compliant execution of projects. He/she will drive operational excellence, manage complex issues within functional areas of expertise, coordinate project frontline EHS teams, and build long term EHS planning for Offshore Wind Projects.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Serve as key business EHS point of contact for Offshore Wind Project operations

  • Provide direct support to P&L Project Office leadership, Project Directors, Site Managers, Package Managers (Installation, Commissioning, Transportation), and Field Engineers for all aspects of safe work planning and field works

  • Manage the EHS risks in collaboration with the Project Director, Installation Package Manager and Commissioning Package Manager.

  • Promote and assist in developing a culture that will achieve the customer’s objectives for a safe workplace free from occupational hazards that protects the natural environment

  • Responsible for the reporting of the EHS KPIs to the PMO, Customer and to the GE Gensuite EHS database

  • Provide Commercial Operations/Sales teams with technical interpretation and review of contracts and work instructions, as well as working closely with P&L EHS Leader for EHS plans and forecasts for tendering activities

  • Provide customers with requested pre-qualification information and work with ITO group on third party qualifications and customer EHS development through the ITO EHS Manager

  • Ensure customer requirements for Projects are identified and addressed during the EHS pre-planning process and through project completion

  • Prepare, update, and finalize project specific EHS Documentation

  • Collaborate with customers, subsidiaries, partners’ teams to ensure project safety plans are developed and implemented

  • Perform systematic audits and coordinate with regional shared services to complete audits of EHS activities in the global business operations

  • Support and participate in customer meetings

  • Oversee programs to support key performance indicators such as safety observations and near miss reporting, audit finding and compliance task closure, training completion

  • Manage project front line EHS teams (onshore and offshore)

  • Liaise with GE Renewable medical team to define medical response strategy

  • Facilitate HAZID workshops, participate to project Design Risk Assessment workshops

  • Ensure that all applicable EHS events are reported, classified, investigated and actions for improvement/correction are identified and implemented according to GE requirements and applicable governmental regulations

  • Recognize trends and patterns, taking and advising actions to avert potential risks before they create an incident

  • Implement and support initiatives and programs designed to reduce injuries within all sites within your area of influence

  • Support and assist accident/incident investigations, providing training and guidance in investigation and root cause analysis.

  • Support PMO for contractors’ EHS prequalification and project onboarding

Required Qualifications

  • Relevant university degree

  • Health & Safety Certification and/or Environmental (Specialization, Post-Grad or equivalent)

  • Robust EHS Leadership experience on large multi-cultural construction projects, offshore industry experience

  • Understanding of EHS requirements relating to marine operations and knowledge of onshore/offshore wind EHS legislation and international EHS regulation and standards

  • Fluency in English
