Job Description Summary
The Controls Configuration Engineering team lead controls configuration strategy and execution within the Core Technology Organization.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Onshore Wind controls engineering organization is seeking a Controls Configuration Engineer with demonstrated configuration management expertise. The Controls Configuration Engineer is an integral part of the wind product and deployment process. This role is dedicated to design, implementation, and optimization of the configuration management strategies to ensure quality, accuracy and productivity of the field deployment of wind turbine controls systems.
The scope of responsibility provides an opportunity to gain a broad understanding of the global Onshore Wind Turbine product line including new product introduction as well as fleet support.
As the Controls Configuration Engineer, you will:
Help identifying and manage the defect data Controls Configuration Management, using GE Renewables PLM and coordinate issue resolution of defects.
Implement controls configuration strategy within product lifecycle management tool
Propose and analyze strategy enhancements within the product lifecycle management tool. This work includes analyzing software source code, configuration data and system thinking.
Manage controls configuration quality process
Collaborate with the team that supports the product lifecycle management on enhancements required for controls configuration. This includes documenting requirements, collaborating on the design and providing validation sign-off.
Work cross functionally in the CCM team to digitize, build, maintain and improve manual processes of data tracking/trending. Able to manage, manipulate and display high volumes of data. Will be expected to establish processes to maintain data quality and build data infrastructure to support visibility throughout the organization. Attention to detail, numbers driven, and goal oriented. Advanced Excel experience needed to coordinate with the Digital team to program the Tableau dashboard.
Coach and mentor others in the analysis, design, test and/or integration related to assigned components, assemblies or process systems that meet business standards, practices, and procedures, and meet the product/program requirements.
Work within the guidelines of applicable GE Policies and Procedures, Engineering Standards, Design Customer Operating Procedures, Specifications, Government and Commercial Standards, and special security requirements. Provide technical engineering support to improve or resolve design, performance, manufacturing, supplier, or field issues.
Document technical data generated to substantiate the assigned components, assemblies, processes and/or systems consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
Monitor and communicate project status, business issues, and significant developments.
Participate as a presenter in technical and program reviews.
Lead the solution of complex technical problems.
Utilize Six Sigma tools to improve current business products and processes. Document successful Six Sigma projects via Green Belt reports and/or presentations.
Concurrently work on multiple projects, monitoring progress and quality, and ensuring schedule requirements are met.
Check own and other people’s work.
Recognized technical expert in relevant engineering domain.
Lead the implementation of innovative analysis design, development concepts of processes and systems.
Define technical schedule cost and/or program requirements.
Conduct assessments and develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems.
Lead the development of components, assemblies, processes, or systems and solve complex high-impact problems.
Effectively communicate and provide recommendations to internal customers through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical data.
Provide technical guidance to other personnel and assigned teams; mentor others in the organization.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science from an accredited college or university
Self-starter with 3-5 years of experience (exp in wind turbine engineering is a plus)
Basic programming skills in: C, MATLAB and model based environments such as SIMULINK
Advanced configuration management skills
Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership experience
Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams

In case of being a GEIQ employee, you must have previously occupied a position as an PB1 (E2) or LPB2 (E3).
Experience in GE Renewables PLM would be a nice to have to track sources of defects of parameter values.
Experience with Tableau is a plus
Experience in: Data analytics - Data quality - Data migration - Data integration - Data enrichment - Reporting
Basic understanding in Matlab / Simulink or similar program
Experience with wind turbine control systems strongly preferred but not mandatory
Proficiency in Enovia
Experience with the wind turbine mechanical loads certification process according to IEC 61400-1
Advanced degree with a focus on controls, wind energy, or system dynamics
Experience with real-time control systems such as the MarkVIe
Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers
