General Electric Software Engineering & Design Digital Thread Engineer in Queretaro, Mexico

Job Description Summary

The Software Engineering & Design Digital Thread Engineer will work with the OneWind team and Software Product Owners across the engineering organization to help develop world class digital engineering tools and design the digital thread of connected tools and processes. Currently, this suite of tools includes tools for (1) optimizing customer wind farm value and turbine layouts, (2) automating and connecting engineering tools for speed in customer proposals and consolidating digital tools for wind turbine/farm simulations, loads evaluation and simulation configuration management.

Job Description

Key responsibilities/essential functions include:

  • Advance state-of-the-art computer modeling and process improvements of Wind Turbines engineering digital tools

  • Work with Product/Software Owners and functional stakeholders in engineering and commercial teams to refine our vision and execution for the OneWind suite of tools

  • Support engineering tool development in terms of designing, building and testing critical engineering software tools.

  • Look for ways to develop and integrate new digital technologies to add value to commercial applications as well as improve internal efficiencies

  • Write detailed technical user manuals and process maps.

Major Generic Duties:

  • Coach and mentor others in the analysis, design, test and/or integration related to assigned components, assemblies or process systems that meet business standards, practices, and procedures, and meet the product/program requirements.

  • Work within the guidelines of applicable GE Policies and Procedures, Engineering Standards, Design Customer Operating Procedures, Specifications, Government and Commercial Standards, and special security requirements.

  • Provide technical engineering support to improve or resolve design, performance, manufacturing, supplier, or field issues.

  • Document technical data generated to substantiate the assigned components, assemblies, processes and/or systems consistent with engineering policies and procedures.

  • Monitor and communicate project status, business issues, and significant developments.

  • Participate as a presenter in technical and program reviews

  • Lead the solution of complex technical problems

  • Utilize Six Sigma tools to improve current business products and processes.

  • Document successful Six Sigma projects via Green Belt reports and/or presentations.

  • Concurrently work on multiple projects, monitoring progress and quality, and ensuring schedule requirements are met.

  • Check own and other people‚Äôs work

  • Recognized technical expert in relevant engineering domain

  • Lead the implementation of innovative analysis design, development concepts of processes and systems.

  • Define technical schedule cost and/or program requirements.

  • Conduct assessments and develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems

  • Lead the development of components, assemblies, processes, or systems and solve complex high-impact problems.

  • Effectively communicate and provide recommendations to internal customers through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical data.

  • Provide technical guidance to other personnel and assigned teams; mentor others in the organization.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering from an accredited college or university

  • Minimum 5 years engineering or programming experience or equivalent

  • Minimum 3 year experience in software development in one or more of the following languages: Java, Kotlin, Python, Delphi, C/C++, JavaScript

  • Solid contribution in a similar role or previous position

  • Effective written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish

  • Presentation Skills: Ability to communicate with Senior Leadership.

Preferred Qualifications/Characteristics:

  • MS or PhD engineering degree in Computer Science, Mechanical or Aero Engineering

  • Experience in Wind turbine engineering

  • Experience in Cloud Computing/AWS

  • Basic understanding of probability, statistics, and optimization

  • Proficient in software engineering and development cycle.

  • Experience developing and applying new digital tools with engineer users.

  • Ability to drive change in a challenging environment in an inclusive manner.

  • Ability to formulate long and short-term plans and lead implementation and adoption for digital tools

  • Demonstrates the ability to lead and influence across organizations

  • Self-motivated with personal and project management skills

  • Familiarity with Agile practices
