General Electric Lead Electrical Engineer in Queretaro, Mexico

Job Description Summary

This lead engineering role focuses on developing and delivering Wind Service electrical component level designs in support of productivity, fleet reliability and new product introduction.

Top priority will be technical support that allows for the successful design, procurement, assembly, and installation of electrical equipment in support of Wind Services priorities.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

The lead electrical design engineer is responsible for:

  • Development of electrical component designs from concept through implementation

  • Creation of design documents, drawings and specs based on product and system level requirements using state of the art electrical and converter technologies for GE wind turbines

  • Support design opportunity identification, estimation, planning and execution for various improvements across the fleet to drive electrical productivity benefits in Wind Services

  • Support the creation and execution of validation plans for electrical and thermal system designs in the lab and at turbines in the field

  • Adhere to QMS and the design review process laid out by the controlled title holders

  • Support usage of PLM and P6 for design process documentation and scheduling

  • Demonstrate independent problem solving and root cause analysis skills

  • Work collaboratively across engineering fleet segments and with CTO advanced technology

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

  • Hands on design experience in an electrical engineering role

  • Experience with creation and modification of schematics, bills of material and one-line diagrams

  • Ability to multi-task well and manage multiple priorities for design work

  • Good analytical and learning skills

  • Strong oral and written communication

Desired Characteristics

  • Hands-on experience with wind turbine electrical systems

  • Experience in overall wind turbine functionality including testing and operation

  • Experience in full electrical components development life cycle (scoping, feasibility, execution, production establishment and obsolescence)

  • Operational knowledge of DFIG generators, converters and pitch systems

  • Working experience with global teams
