Job Description Summary

Provide fleet management and resolution of field issues related to owned ATA hardware for the externals module of the GE90/GEnx platforms. Collaborate with model and product leaders to manage externals hardware for the GE90/GEnx product lines and collaboratively release field plans to air framers and operators. Be accountable of fleet functional and business objectives that require integration across the organization. Resolve complex issues related to field findings.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Integrate design, manufacturing programs, test and systems engineering towards resolution of field issues.

  • Meet business standards, practices, and procedures, and meet the GE90/GEnx program requirements. Work within the guidelines of applicable GE Policies and Procedures, Engineering Standards, Customer Operating Procedures, Specifications, Government and Commercial Standards.

  • Assure that proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks is consistent with engineering policies and procedures.

  • Monitor and communicate project status, business issues, and significant developments.

  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.

  • Lead the solution of complex field technical problems.

  • Be a champion and promoter of Lean tools.

  • Lead multiple projects, monitoring progress and quality and ensuring schedule requirements are met.

  • Support defining technical schedule, cost and/or program requirements to resolve field issues.

  • Conduct assessments and develop action plans to anticipate and respond to field problems.

  • Effectively communicate and provide recommendations to internal and external GE customers through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical data.

  • Provide the engineering technical support to cross functional teams to improve or resolve design, manufacturing, supplier, or field issues.

  • Interface with external organizations and supporting functions, and direct/coordinate the efforts of project team members in order to resolve field issues and manage externals for the GEnx/GE90 fleet.

  • Participate with manager(s) in developing, communicating, executing, and tracking program plans and goals. Manage complex field issues within functional area(s) of expertise.

  • Actively support the Fleet Engineering technical community (DB43) and provide support to global initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering related field (aeronautical, mechanical, electrical).

  • Experience in fleet support (minimum of 5 years).

  • Availability 24/7.

  • Demonstrated experience resolving complex field issues including containment, RCA and fix introduction defining technical and commercial strategies.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple field projects simultaneously across functions.

  • Experience leading presentations of field issues to Senior Leadership and external customers.

  • Experience interpreting, defining and updating engine OEM and airframer maintenance procedures/manuals.

  • Experience identifying, proposing and executing fleet/field related cost avoidance projects.

  • Effective written and oral communication skills in English.

  • Must be able to maintain a normal day-to-day fluid conversation in English on any topic with few mistakes (mistakes that do not affect clear understanding). Must have fluency, rhythm, and sufficient self-confidence in the language to be able to handle meetings and conversations.
