General Electric Quality Excellence Engineer in Prestwick, United Kingdom

Job Description Summary

To work within the Quality department reporting to the Quality Excellence Leaders. The role offers the opportunity for personal development and interaction with shop teams. In this role you will drive Quality improvement and engagement across all areas of our overhaul business, working with peers and fulfilment teams to assure the highest product quality standards.

As an engineer joining the existing Quality Excellence team, you will resolve issues through immediate action or tactical planning. Collating and reviewing data to identify, drive and deliver projects to improve product and process Quality through application of DMAIC and RCCA methodology will also be a requirement.

As a Quality engineer you will also fully support the Safety Management System and aligned functions (quality assurance/technical training/documentation/calibration), ensuring an effective quality presence with continual improvement of processes to achieve customer satisfaction on all products and services.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Drive RCCA methodology, monitor corrections, contribute on containment, identify and drive to closure, develop effective corrective and preventive actions.

  • Drive implementation of Proactive Quality Elements (e.g. PQA/PFMEA/Kaizen/Read Across) within the organisation, identifying and mitigating potential quality risks

  • Manage expectations for customer issue resolution

  • Lead by example in the application of formal Root Cause Analysis, coach others and drive action completion

  • Work with the Safety Management team and expanded Safety Action Group (SAG), mentoring in the preparation and maintenance of quality audits, proactive quality assessments, employee competence reviews and other risk identification/abatement activities

  • Promote quality engagement and assist in driving positive quality culture within production teams & identify quality concerns and improvement opportunities

Qualifications

  • Relevant work experience in quality/manufacturing environment

  • Effective communicator with ability to form strong connections at all levels

  • Ability to successfully contribute in cross functional teams, leading to positive outcomes

  • High standards with respect to work output, problem solving skills and attention to detail

  • Able to work under their own initiative whilst still supporting the team structure

  • High level of computer literacy (MS Office & Web applications)
