As a Technical Leader of Power Electronics reporting to the Director of Engineering, you will work with engineering and product teams across various GE organizations and customers to develop technology and product roadmaps, oversee product bids and proposal activities, and lead overall product development activities that define the disruptive future of GE’s Edge technologies. You will shape and foster strategic collaborations within Electrical Power Systems and within the Long Island and Pompano Beach Engineering team. You will drive technology and product roadmaps to ensure the Power Conversion and Control business have a multi-year strategic plan that is competitive

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead early stages of technology development with high disruption potential and mature these technologies from initial concept to successful product introduction.

  • Coordinate disruptive technology efforts in close collaboration with other GE businesses and ensure that such efforts are incorporated into long-term multi-generational technology and product road maps.

  • Serve as the customer facing technical lead or principal investigator on technology projects including but not limited to power conversion, power systems analysis, power systems control and energy storage system integration

  • Ensure that all designs and practices implement and foster a culture of safety, quality and value.

  • Work with Business Development, Marketing and Advance Technology teams to identify and foster partnerships with major defense contractors to shape opportunities for future military airborne, Naval and ground vehicle applications.

  • Identify, mentor and coach technical talent to serve as Principal Investigators on new product development programs

  • Support Leadership by reviewing customer requirements and highlighting differences/gaps between those requirements and product capabilities

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or related engineering field with a minimum of 10 years of experience in Power Electronics engineering field

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

Desired Characteristics

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related disciplines with a minimum of 10 years developing power conversion products

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with demonstrated ability to lead technically multimillion-dollar programs

  • Ability to make decisions with confidence when problems or solutions are not well defined

  • Demonstrated capability to thrive in a matrixed team environment

  • Proven ability to manage risk and uncertainty for self and team within a dynamic priority-setting environment

  • Strong technical acumen paired with the ability to understand a wide range of technology domains

  • Influence, facilitation, and negotiation skills; boundary-less/solution-focused approach

  • Demonstrated ability to take an innovative idea from research to a product

  • Strong record of peer-reviewed journal publications and conference presentations

The salary range for this position is 131,600 – 219,400 USD Annual. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus/variable incentive plan.
