General Electric Lead Test Engineer in Pompano Beach, Florida

Job Description Summary

This role is responsible for the project management and design of automated test systems (ATEs), Specialized Test Equipment (STE) and Environmental Stress Testing Burn In Fixtures (BIF) (hardware & software) to support development, production testing and test outsourcing of GE Aviation Electrical Power-Long Island (EPLI) products.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Designs ATEs, Special Test Equipment, Burn-in Fixtures, hardware and software on new product development programs and replacement of existing test systems.

  • Provides project oversight on Test development projects from initial design through release to production and/or end customer. This includes generating and maintaining project schedules, test documentation and ensuring projects are accomplished to established budgets.

  • Performs analysis of requirements and designs test equipment, burn-in fixtures, modifies and upgrades same to latest state-of-the-art for use in our production facility.

  • Develops requirements, generates designs, defines/develops test programs, and documents work on programs involving new concepts and products.

  • Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard test engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.

  • Mentors other engineers in conventional test technology and standard processes and procedures.

  • Prepares material for and participates in customer reviews and presentations.

  • Perform independent work on special projects (e.g. automation of manual manufacturing/test process).

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a Test Development role developing automated test systems (ATE’s) and Test Fixtures (utilizing COTS test equipment) to test complex electronic products.

  • Must be proficient in software development using C/C++, LabWindows/CVI, Visual Basic, GPIB / RS232 interfaces and Microsoft excel, word, project and power point.

  • Circuit design capability (analog & digital) for test equipment and burn-in fixtures

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.

  • MS in Electrical Engineering

  • Experience in the design and development of automated test systems (ATE’s), STEs and BIFs for production test of power conversion electronics products/systems.

  • Experience with component test using custom test equipment (e.g. Teradyne bed-of-nails in circuit test (ICT), GenRad flying probe) programming, maintenance and repair.

  • Experience with product support on the manufacturing floor, troubleshooting of product test problems.

  • Knowledge of Military Standards (e.g. RTCA/DO-160, Mil-STD 810,461/462 and 704).
