The Lead Manufacturing Engineer develops, implements, and supports processes and equipment for new and legacy electronic products for civil and defense aerospace applications.

Essential Responsibilities

The Lead Manufacturing Engineer will:

• Utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals

• Develop and maintain manufacturing work instructions and related documentation

• Design and build / procure necessary fixtures and tooling to manufacture electronic assemblies and products

• Support assembly equipment upgrades from purchase through installation

• Conduct cost / benefit analysis for changes to manufacturing processes and / or equipment

• Lead New Product Introductions and the transition of product lines between sites (Pompano Beach & Long Island)

• Assist Production Supervisors and production employees in resolving manufacturing process problems through a drive to root cause and permanent corrective action

• Attend cross-functional quality sessions and track/drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for Cell issues

• Support EHS projects in cell

• Drive Process Improvement / Cycle Reduction initiatives and drive productivity improvements via process changes or improvements

• Ensure processes contribute to a safe work environment

• Identify and reduce sources of labor efficiency variations

• Identify and reduce product quality issues caused by process variation

• Support the quality function through integration of ISO / QC documentation and manufacturing work instructions

• Translate technical processes and methods to train and empower production employees in the manufacturing techniques required for greatest yield effectiveness & equipment capability

• Lead high impact process and quality improvement projects yielding significant reduction in defects and increased productivity in the Cell

• Utilize lean-manufacturing principles and participate in action workouts to improve process capability, reduce overall costs and increase capacity

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of experience in Manufacturing or Engineering)

• Minimum of 3 years in Manufacturing or Engineering

• Developing processes for cleanroom manufacturing and/or prior experience working in a cleanroom

• Experience with programming and set-up of electronic assembly equipment (e.g. screen printers, SMT assembly machines, reflow ovens, wave solder machine, etc.)

• Strong background in the interpretation of engineering drawings / specifications and manufacturing processes

• Experience with fixture designs or improvement

• Ability to make data driven decisions and utilize Six Sigma and Lean tools

• Knowledge of safety agency regulations

• Knowledge of ISO/quality procedures
