Role Summary/Purpose:
GE Aviation Systems, LLC, Avionics North America is looking to hire a Senior Development Quality Assurance (DQA) Engineer. The Senior Quality Engineer for Developmental Quality Assurance (DQA) will conduct activities to ensure engineering compliance to applicable regulatory, industry, customer, and company standards.
Essential Responsibilities:
Be responsible for providing independent assurance that external standards (including governmental, industrial, and contractual) as applicable to Avionics complex electronics assurance development.
Ensure all Internal GE procedures, policies, and processes applicable to engineering activities are followed and ensure the result of suitable, rigorous, and structured processes enacted throughout the product lifecycle.
Conduct assessments / audits of engineering activities to gauge compliance with applicable regulatory, industrial, and company standards via audit, review, and other methods
Review technical documentation with a view to Quality and Compliance requirements.
Generate and follow plans and work instructions for execution of Development Quality Assurance functions.
Serve as domain expert with regard to aerospace standards including RTCA/DO-178, RTCA/DO-254, RTCA/DO-297 and SAE ARP4754A.
Contribute to the success of product development teams.
Provide expert advice on alternative approaches to Engineering activities, when appropriate.
Ensure Quality records are maintained, metrics collected, and reports given back to the business.
Evaluate, develop, and publish quality metrics and audit results to the project team and stakeholders.
Interface with, and provide support to, regulatory authorities, customer representatives, and supplier representatives.
In addition, the Senior DQA Engineer will perform the following tasks reflecting Senior status:
Manage customer issues and actions.
Lead and facilitate NC investigations.
Leverage and apply solutions/lessons learned to other potential problems.
Analyze and interpret metrics and trend data to identify systemic NCs and cost saving and reliability improvement opportunities.
Initiate process improvements.
Lead internal and external quality teams to deliver individual project across multiple tiers (including customer & suppliers) to plan.
Acts as a change agent, driving efficient and effective processes that are compliant with customer, industry, and regulatory requirements.
Create and use metrics to drive behaviors and change.
Recognize opportunities, research and implement new tools/processes/etc.
Anticipate customer responses and proactively adapts communication to address these responses.
Understands and translates requirements for complex/new territory, high risk, and/or multiple projects/program(s).
Plan, manage, monitor, and execute complex, high risk, and/or multiple projects/program(s)/customers.
Leads cross organizational teams.
Define and lead DQA presentations across multiple disciplines to internal and external stakeholders, including those at senior levels.
Build and maintain relationships throughout customer hierarchy.
Influence DQA vision, milestones, and execution strategy.
Develop DQA expertise and pipeline.
Applies detailed knowledge and experience of multiple products by completing tasks throughout the development lifecycle.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
Minimum of 5 years employment in aerospace engineering and/or airborne product development with quality/process assurance responsibilities
