General Electric Lead Manufacturing Engineer in Phoenix, Arizona

Job Description Summary

This role will provide technical leadership for manufacturing processes to build advanced, state of the art ultrasound transducers used in medical imaging. Particular focus will be given to precision cutting and micro-machining equipment and processes to reliably and predictably produce sub-millimeter sized piezoelectric elements. Will partner with technology development to expand portfolio of products using these advanced manufacturing methods to reduce product cost and improve product quality. Responsibilities include providing documentation and production support associated with safety, manufacturing and quality, methods, tooling, and equipment for these transducer processes.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bring and/or development expertise in key equipment and processes used in transducer manufacturing, with specific focus on precision saw technologies.

  • Drive improved product quality by identifying manufacturing issues, developing cost-effective solutions, and overseeing successful implementation into production.

  • Support introduction of new products and technologies to manufacturing, including definition and qualification of associated equipment and processes and manufacturing releases, along with changes and updates to existing products and processes.

  • Work with Production Associates to resolve manufacturing and quality problems related to methods, processes, tooling, equipment, and product design.

  • Ensuring regulatory compliance through Validation & Verification. Responsible for determining processes requiring validation, development of plans and analysis criteria, execution and final analysis and acceptance.

  • Implement and expand new process and workstation designs to reduce cycle time and support lean manufacturing initiatives.

  • Monitor and improve productivity, while ensuring all customer commitments are met in a timely, quality and cost-conscious manner.

  • Specify and expedite planned maintenance routines on assigned production equipment and systems

  • Lead Compliance, as well as Environmental, Health & Safety efforts in support of plant goals

  • Provide safe processes that comply with all local and federal regulations. Assure that corrective action is taken to resolve observed safety concerns in all areas.

Quality Specific Goals:

  • Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position.

  • Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines.

  • Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required.

  • Knowledge and understanding of document control, design transfer, verification, validation, acceptance activity, DMR, DHR and electronic signature requirements to ensure that product, equipment, tools, processes, software, training and documentation meet requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or related technical degree and a minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing, semi-conductor, medical devices, process development, dicing/sawing or materials; or Associates Degree and a minimum of 7 years of same experience

  • Understanding of testing and validation procedures and associated IT and Quality tools

  • Good analytical and planning skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. Degree in Engineering or Business

  • Experience with semiconductor-grade saw (dicing) equipment such as DISCO and ADT

  • Experience utilizing Excel and other statistical tools to process and understand data

  • Demonstrated ability to identify & implement best practices

  • Demonstrated ability to perform with high levels of ambiguity

  • Project execution experience

  • Proficiency with product change control processes
