Job Description Summary

GE Grid Services North America supports its customer with their HVDC/FACTS system maintenance (Synchronous Condenser, SVCs, FSCs, HVDCs, Statcoms…). Our service commissions, inspects, maintains, repairs HVDC/FACTS solution in North America and sometimes in other regions. In GE Grid Services North America, you will travel to customer sites to support our customers. You will spend time at the office (40/50% of your time) where you will prepare your site activities, including EHS procedures, tool lists, maintenance planning, test procedures and prepare your reports to be issued to customers at your return.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Commission new GE HVDC/FACTS systems

  • Inspect/maintain HVDC/FACTS systems

  • Troubleshoot HVDC/FACTS system events

  • Prepare site activities

  • Write quality and comprehensive reports

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering

  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 60% of the time

Desired Characteristics:

  • Fluent in English

  • Leadership in front of customer

  • Experience with HV or MV electrical maintenance and/or commissioning

  • Experience with Power electronics system (HVDC, SVC, Statcom)

  • Experience with large electric machines (Synchronous condenser, generators…)

  • Experience with HV measurement devices (CTs, PTs…)

  • Experience with relay protection tests

  • Experience with HMI commissioning

  • Experience with commissioning/troubleshooting of PLCs or control units

  • Experience with communication protocol and communication troubleshooting

  • Experience with HV Breakers/Disconnector Switches/Transformers (An asset)

Locations:

Position open in North America. Engineer to be preferably located in US on East Cost (From Main to North Carolina). Houston (TX) and Montreal (Canada) could be considered.
