Job Description Summary
The Design Liaison Engineer, Mechanical provides design engineering support to wind turbine manufacturing operations at Pensacola, and will serve as the primary interface between mechanical engineering teams and manufacturing, ensuring that manufactured / assembled product meets design intent. In this role, you will support resolution of product quality and manufacturing issues and drive continuous improvement in product design & manufacturing methods for cost, quality and producibility.

Roles and Responsibilities
As the Design Liaison Engineer, Mechanical, you will:
Be responsible for all machine head and rotor mechanical components
Represent Design Engineering in the evaluation & resolution of product non-conformances and production problems encountered during manufacturing of wind machine heads, rotors and down tower assemblies
Support evaluation of non-conformances to determine nature and scope of the problem and provide appropriate disposition
Consult with engineering hardware owners as required, ensuring finished product achieves design intention for fit, form and function
Drive quick, complete root cause analysis, corrective actions and preventative actions
Interpret engineering drawings and specification and facilitate / lead quick correction of engineering product definition errors identified during manufacturing operations
Determine rework and repair procedures for non-conforming materials
Support Sourcing Quality Engineers and suppliers to ensure timely resolution of issues and effective implementation of RCA, corrective actions and preventative actions
Review and update Manufacturing Instructions, ensuring that engineering requirements are met
Initiate and drive implementation of manufacturing method and/or product design continuous improvements to reduce cost, increase throughput and enhance producibility
Work closely with global DLE peers to share lessons learned, drive consistency in application of design requirements & implement continuous improvement opportunities
Use engineering judgment and decision making skills to resolve issues while balancing fulfillment pressures of high paced manufacturing operation with protecting product quality and robustness
Train, mentor and coach Production Quality Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers
Support NPI by providing design engineers with manufacturing perspective during design development / driving prototype and fit up results back into the design
Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering or related field from an accredited university or college
Minimum of 5 years of relevant mechanical engineering and/or supply chain management experience
Desired Characteristics
Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a accredited university or college
Strong understanding of product definition drawings, GD&T, materials, process specifications and Bills of Material
Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
Gearbox, structural, electrical and/or other wind turbine experience
Proven ability to work with global team members across cultural boundaries
Experience leading resolution of complex multifaceted problems
Experience working in a manufacturing or assembly facility
Working knowledge of 3D-CAD tools (i.e., UG)
Business tools and practices expertise
Proven project leadership experience
