Job Description Summary

Lean Executive responsible for transforming NALH’s results through the application of lean principles. Specifically, the Lean Leader will work closely as a partner with the businesses and functions to implement Lean practices, driving both a change in operating mindset and ensuring Lean principles are applied effectively in support of strategic and operational business plans. The primary responsibility of this position is to develop lean proficiency among GE - NALH leaders and team members to both improve processes within the team but to be a partner to the Business Leadership in establishing practices and principles that promote and enable GE’s lean transformation.

Job Description

The Lean Leader will serve as a facilitator, educator, advocate, consultant and accountability partner to the NALH teams to drive the understanding and application of Lean principles and tools. While many have been trained in Lean and Six Sigma tools, GE is in the early stages of the cultural adoption of lean as an operating enabler. The Lean Leader will:

  • Collaborate with team’s across NALH to assess value streams, processes and practices as compared to lean company benchmarks, both internal and external. Establish a transformation plan based on the prioritized gaps and develop new process capability through the application of hoshin kanri and the execution of kaizen events.

  • Partner with Business Lean Leaders to prioritize and solve problems based on voice of the customer related to safety, quality, cost and cash within the businesses and functions through the application of lean.

  • Assist teams in establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) and implementing daily management to drive continuous improvement.

  • Establish a kaizen event rhythm and leverage that activity to develop lean proficiency for all employees; creating internal capabilities to facilitate kaizens and sustain continuous process improvement without external support.

  • Partner with the Business Lean leaders to quickly develop and deploy new, best-practice capability and process across the business using the core lean tools. Key contributor to the development and implementation of the GE lean system.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, or Business

  • Ten-plus years of experience as a leader in mature lean companies.

  • Demonstrated ability in solving complex problems and transforming results and process through the application of Lean techniques.

  • Lean practitioner, capable of facilitating kaizen events and coaching the core tools such as Daily Visual Management, structured Problem Solving, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Transactional Process Improvement and Kanban.

  • Specific experience in transaction lean environment, preferably within an insurance / financial industry.

  • Experience driving enterprise-wide transformation preferably in a major turn-around. The ideal candidate has been through complex change and tough situations; bringing a will to win with strong followership.

  • Proven to be effective driving outcomes in large, matrixed organizations – understands how to navigate geographies, cultures, relationships, etc. Can drive work around the world because they are accountable, trustworthy, credible, committed, and intellectually agile.

  • Change agent, able to make the case for lean and demonstrate immediate impact.

  • Highly collaborative person, comfortable with conflict and debate normally associated with change.

  • Critical thinker with the ability to bring others along, even those with conflicting priorities.

  • Impactful communicator at every level within the business
