Role Summary:

A Drafter/Designer support position within the BHGE Oil & Gas – SPS Engineering department. The position reports to the SPS Engineering Manager. Drafter/Designer is responsible for preparing clear, complete and accurate detail drawings from detailed mark ups, sketches and/or notes under direct supervision.

Essential Responsibilities:

In the role of SPS Drafter / Designer you will:

  • Construct 2D and 3D component, sub-assembly, and assembly drawings from sketches or red lined prints using Solid Works

  • Corrects or revises drawings by incorporating specific drawing changes, Engineering change notices (ECN), checkers notations, or related information

  • Makes revisions including dimensioning and scaling. Updates ERP system information as it relates to the drawing revisions and release

  • Understands and uses Engineering Drafting Standards and Document Control practices appropriately

  • Create and modify Bills of Materials (BOM) and enter into the ERP system

  • Confer with senior designers, drafting supervisor and project engineers to resolve design questions Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Associates Degree from an accredited college or university ( OR High School Diploma/GED from an accredited school or institution with 3 year of experience in Design / Drafting)

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Design / Drafting Desired Characteristics:

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and department procedures.

  • Ability to present formal and informal work related progress reports

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry, fractions percentages, ratios, proportions and English and Metric units

  • Demonstrated analytical and hands-on problem solving skills

  • Ability to interpret project requirements with adequate levels of design input. (Oral and written

  • Strong communication skills ie: written, analytical, negotiating and interpersonal are essential

  • Demonstrated ability to produce 2D mechanical drawings following standard American industrial practices

  • Solid Works training or experience preferred

  • Understanding of GD&T applications; Experience in programming; SolidWorks or other 3D modeling software experinence; Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • PC proficiency

  • Ability to apply Six Sigma tools

  • Ability to establish and maintain good customer relations
