Job Description Summary

As a Lead Project Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for the Quality segment of NAM GSI Tendering opportunities and Quality of NAM GSI Service projects. This includes delivering documented quality deliverables to the customer and ensuring NAM GSI’s Quality program is thoroughly represented in all offerings. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate processes related to quality and growth initiatives including traditional Quality, Six Sigma ( DMAIC, and Lean), and working with the assigned project team and commercial bid managers

  • Drive integrated quality methodologies & processes and documentation to facilitate productivity and customer satisfaction

  • Lead the overall Quality strategy and execution plan for assigned service projects and tendering opportunities

  • Own quality deliverables and KPI’s for assigned projects, working with the project team to beat deadlines and deliver under budget

  • Work with Project Team, and the customer-specific engineering team(s) on executing to schedule for customer & internal projects

  • Recognize potential shortfalls in design processes and develop corrective actions to reduce defects.

  • Leadership includes CoQ reduction actions as well as monitoring and auditing for effectiveness,

  • Perform RCA’s (root cause analysis) and execute corrective actions.

  • Manage Key customer technical quality Issues.

  • Interface with internal and external team members including end customer

  • Coordinate lessons learned sharing and implementation for assigned projects and tendering opportunities

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university

  • Minimum of 3 years of quality engineering experience in increasingly responsible roles

  • Must be willing and available to travel 20%. Must be willing to comply with all relevant GE company travel and tax policies.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Excellent personal computer skills, including proficiency with Excel and Word

  • RCA’s (root cause analysis) experience

  • Strong business acumen, fully understand the mission and scope of business

  • Experience with application of Lean principles and tools such as Value Stream and Continual Improvement

  • CertifiedSixSigma Green Belt

  • Ability to brainstorm process changes that will enable implementation of new data collection tools in an existing process

  • Excellent influencing and facilitation skills. Ability to work in a matrix environment and to work effectively cross functionally.

  • Demonstrated creativity and ability to lead and motivate a team and be accountable for team results in order to deliver a high quality product on time and under budget

  • Ability to act as a change agent. Familiarity with CAP.

  • Prior experience in a customer-facing role

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Willingness to present ideas to stakeholders to generate buy-in for new quality tools, processes and dashboards
