Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead a specific team of manufacturing engineers for the NTI/NPI process.

  • Provide direction and mentoring on Unison policies and procedures.

  • Provide direction and mentoring on Unison product development including compliance with (Unison procedure) UIEP 4.2 and (Industry Standard) APQP guidelines.

  • Provide direction and mentoring on (Industry Standard) AS13100 compliance.

  • Provide direction and mentoring on Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) (DOD Standard) Assessment and advancement for products.

  • Support estimating of labor and tooling / equipment needs for bid and proposal efforts as required.

  • Provide input to necessary business P&E estimates

  • Support design and manufacturing reviews as required.

  • Manufacturing engineering direction of tasks that do not require 4 year degree. Primarily tactical responsibilities. This does not include general administrative work.

  • Typically a 1st line manager of professionals or a 2nd line manager of a professional department. Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource for a team of Manufacturing Engineers. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.

  • Able to lead an RCCA activity as required.

  • Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market

  • Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.

  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 9 years of experience within manufacturing engineering and/or design engineering.)

  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering, manufacturing engineering, and/or design engineering experience

  • This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.

Desired Characteristics

  • Understanding of Unison product development policies and procedures.

  • Understanding of various Unison product families.

  • Understanding of the overall NTI/NPI development process and relationship to the Unison tollgate process.

  • Understanding of Unison bid and proposal opportunities process and general business processes.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.

The base pay range for this position is $111,700.00 - $186,200.00. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on April 26, 2024.
