General Electric Senior Technician - Electrical in Norwich, New York

Job Description Summary

The Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical devices and

equipment in an industrial environment. The work will primarily be in facility and manufacturing

maintenance and their specific duties may include electric motors, control circuits, lighting, PLC and

motor control centers.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, repair and complete preventative maintenance on various types of electrical equipment

  • Perform troubleshooting of relay controls, variable frequency drives (VFD), motor control centers, and synchronous drives.

  • Reading and interpreting blue prints

  • Wiring machines and Install electrical services ranging from 480 volts ac to 24 volts dc.

  • Report and track all maintenance activities in the company's CMMS Maximo program.

  • Set new breaker panels and add buss switches. Ensure work are completed in accordance with OSHA safety standards and codes set forth by the federal government via NFPA70E

  • Perform drafting for electrical installations following applicable NEC code, wiring configurations, load calculations, resistance and line loss calculations.

  • Work with EHS to establish and write LOTO policies, procedures and guidelines for plant operations and maintenance.

  • Perform installation of wires, cables, drive motors, VFD's, sensors and encoders.

  • Serve as lead for procurement of electrical parts and equipment.

  • Perform as lead and trainer in large electrical projects consisting of maintenance techs with minimal knowledge and training in electricity.

  • Perform other duties as required


  • High School Diploma or equivalent education (GED)

  • 7.5 + years of experience electrical work within industrial setting

  • Current holder of Master’s License issued by or reciprocal with Chenango County or is able to qualify for Master’s License for Chenango County within first 6 months of hire.


  • Ability to lift, move and manipulate fixtures and component hardware up to 30 lbs. (with or without reasonable accommodations)

  • Ability to work in confined areas, work off ladders, platforms and heights

Desired Characteristics:

  • Ability to work with power tools and meters

  • Completed AAS in Electrical Technology

  • Ability to work with or learn PLC's, small electronics, and robotics is a plus

  • Strong understanding of HVAC controls ● Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems

  • Ability to use basic tools and machinery

  • Ability to schedule, plan and order materials for jobs

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to work with customers
