Job Description Summary
Characterization and testing of samples for process verification and validation in support of production within the Material Control Lab (MCL).
Essential Responsibilities : Follows both written and supervisory instructions. Works with a minimum of supervision. Accurately maintains all required inspection records. Uses state-of-the-art measurement/testing equipment, gauges and methods, assuring the outgoing quality of products. Inspects products, raw materials and process samples to determine conformance to design requirements using all necessary inspection and test equipment. Performs various non-destructive and destructive testing including manual part sectioning. Uses statistical process control and statistical quality control techniques as required. Supplies feedback to supervision and manufacturing regarding quality problems detected during inspection and test. Works with engineering personnel, purchasing, customer and government representatives. Assists with inspection, testing, and mechanical measurements at customer facility when required. Supports internal and external audits for certification and customer requirements. Performs work at the inspection areas and in the manufacturing areas. Utilizes proper safety and housekeeping techniques. Offers suggestions on methods to improve efficiency or quality of product and process. Other duties may be required to be performed. Assists in training of other employees.
Qualifications/Requirements : High School diploma or GED
3 years previous Non Destructive Testing inspection experience
Desired Characteristics : 2 year technical degree
Non Destructive Testing L-2 classification Experience with metals processing i.e.; welding or heat treating Computer skills
Time management and organizational skills Mechanical aptitude Understanding of basic geometry and ability to perform mathematical calculations with rations, fractions and decimals
