Job Description Summary
As an experienced domain expert and leader of the in-house insurance function, this role is responsible for advising the GE Energy Financial Services (EFS) business related to the insurance risks associated with equity investment and lending against existing and development power assets and projects. This individual will be responsible for identifying insurance risks and proposing mitigants in support of underwriting and portfolio management.
Oversee and lead the assessment of all insurable risks affecting EFS investments.
Assist and support the efforts of EFS underwriting and portfolio groups in identification and mitigation of risks and in execution of investment objectives.
Perform insurance due diligence for both underwriting and portfolio groups.
Interact with EFS customers in the completion of due diligence and negotiation of financing terms related to insurance issues.
Possess understanding of products, risk appetite, and portfolio management philosophy of EFS.
Maintenance of contacts within GE Gas Power and GE Renewables.
Actively monitor portfolio for insurance related issues (e.g. compliance with insurance requirements, manage claims processes, etc).
Maintain in-depth knowledge of the emerging trends and products in the insurance industry that may apply to EFS investments.
Clearly and concisely articulate key issues in verbal discussions and written communications with senior management and successfully influence the outcome of a transaction within risk appetite across multiple decision makers and stakeholders.
At least 7+ years of experience in insurance broking, underwriting or risk management.
Experience with thermal power plants and/or renewable energy
Proposal preparation experience
Project development experience
Skilled communicator who can negotiate technical and commercial points internally and externally at high levels
Knowledge of GE’s total financial product offering, in addition to other financial products including loans, partnerships, and equity investments; Experience managing in a matrixed environment.
Proven ability to build/maintain strong relationships (internally and externally) while coordinating multiple tasks/priorities.
Skilled communicator who can influence a wide range of audience via balanced approach to deals and a clear understanding/presentation of risks.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
