General Electric Senior Investment Operations Leader - Pension in Norwalk, Connecticut

Job Description Summary

Serve as a key member of the Investment operations and Finance team, responsible for providing financial and operational leadership as it relates to GE’s retirement assets. This will include partnering with Investment teams, FP&A, Controllership, Tax and other third-party advisors to build process efficiencies and drive seamless execution

Job Description


  • Collaborate with third party service providers and implement a comprehensive / wing-to-wing data management administration process for alternative assets that will provide for seamless and accurate transmission of information between investment, accounting, valuation, and custody teams

  • Provide valuation oversight across all asset classes, including working with third party providers to validate inputs and drive process efficiencies around valuation of Alternative assets. Lead valuation of direct / co-investments

  • Lead strategic investment / management reviews and reporting processes for CFO, CEO and senior leadership. Ensure compliance with documented governance policies, including leading the production and standardization of Investment committee materials (BPIC)

  • Partner with controllership and FP&A teams to improve various processes including Sarbanes Oxley, Form 5500 filings, 10k and performance reporting, quarterly close, Internal Audit and the Company’s external auditor. Support EROA justification and preparation of financial statements

  • Provide oversight over operational review and onboarding of all new investments. Ensure compliance with documented manager underwriting / monitoring policies and procedures

  • Partner with stakeholders to provide oversight over management fee review, reconciliation, accrual and performance reporting process

  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of funded status globally and monitor / model sensitivities around global plan funding needs. Lead financial analytics around various projects focused on economically reducing deficit

  • Lead the development of policies, procedures and operating rhythm for various Plan related Tax matters and be the point person in working with third party advisors

  • Identify and implement best-in-class policies and procedures that enhance the efficiency of Plan operations and ensure separation of duties across core investment decisions and valuation/accounting

  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiencies, drive KPI’s, augment reporting, drive analytics and leverage data/capabilities across teams and external partners

  • Build productive working relationships with actuaries, custodian, advisors, consultants and Treasury / Corporate teams


  • A Bachelor’s Degree and 10+ years of relevant experience or a high school diploma and 14+ years of relevant role related experience

  • Minimum 7 years of Asset management / Capital Markets experience

  • Minimum 7 years of operational and/or finance experience dealing with aspects of Controllership and FP&A

Desired characteristics

  • Solid understanding and practical experience dealing with valuation of alternative assets, preferably in the context of a defined benefit plan

  • Ability to think critically and apply excellent quantitative modeling skills (i.e. Excel)

  • Solid communication and presentation skills.

  • Technical competency in some manager research and risk management platforms (i.e. eVestment, Factset, Aladdin, Burgiss, etc.)

  • Advanced Degree and/or CFA preferred.
