Job Description Summary

The Program Manager - Electrical Balance of Plant is responsible for the technical content associated with new unit projects and rental projects, scope definition and analysis, costing evaluations for all new unit and rental proposals, customer specification review, identifying scope deviations, product offering configuration, technical offering risk evaluation, and review of codes and standards (including grid code review). In this role, you will work closely with Sales, Sales Support, Engineering, EPCs, and Customers. Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks is consistent with engineering policies and procedures.

Job Description

Essential Role and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical engineering guidance and support to Sales and Customers for Aero gas turbine project development, proposal preparation and contract negotiation.

  • Review and interpret customer inquiries and project requirements to establish scope of supply limits and costs.

  • Develop detailed comments to customer specifications.

  • Clearly document assumptions and exceptions for offers submitted to customers

  • Evaluate non-standard product requests (fuels, equipment, and applications).

  • Develop “Demand Creation” concepts and technical solutions to increase market penetration

  • Prepare, review, and coordinate technical data and solutions with internal and external teams for simple cycle and combined cycle applications

  • Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced Applications team members.

  • Work with vendors to obtain project-specific information and quotations.

  • Provide risk analysis support.

  • Work, and lead when appropriate, multi-functional engineering teams to develop conceptual solutions, technical work scope, and specifications for project applications.

  • Support bid reviews and clarification meetings.

  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.

  • Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues.

  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.

  • Lead project handover meetings.

  • Development and review of project documentation.

  • Development of strong customer relationships and communication delivering with sales team promoting sales of new units

  • Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers.

  • Work in a matrix environment, interfacing at various levels of functional groups throughout the organization.

  • Define, review, and manage technical proposal development activities that include but not limited to mechanical, electrical, civil, and controls scope definition.

  • Work directly with Customers, Sales, ComOps in negotiating technical and project scope definition including Equipment Engineered Package (EEP), Turn-Key Partner (TKP), Turn-Key Self-Implement (TKSI) offerings.

  • Review, evaluate, optimize, and recommend GE inventory scope for Aero projects.

  • Engage Subcontractors, and Partners directly. This task includes educating them on Aero products and reviewing, understand their offer, ensure compliance, providing feedback, and including the GE EC scope in the Aero offer to the Customer.

  • Coordinate with internal teams regarding performance runs, level 1 schedules, technical scope, drawings, cost estimating for complete proposal development.

  • Evaluate Low Voltage (LV), Medium Voltage (MV), and High Voltage (HV) equipment application for Customer’s project(s).

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree Electrical Engineering.

  • 5 years of engineering experience

  • Must be willing to work independently (after proper training) and be a self-starter.

  • Must be able/willing to travel, both domestically and internationally

  • Proficient in MS Office and associated software, i.e. Power Point, Excel, Word.

  • Proficient in AutoCad, and PDMS tool suite.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in applications, rotating equipment, equipment packaging, power plant or power industry.

  • Aero Derivative Turbine Technology experience

  • Strong interpersonal skills. Able to work with different levels of management, vendors, customers, and cultures.

  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects/work load.

  • Outstanding written and verbal English communication skills (oral and written)

  • Multi-language skills.
