General Electric Lead Engineer - Customer Project Engineering in Noida, India

Job Description Summary

As a member of Engineering Team , you will be responsible for design, engineering and commissioning of Excitation & Generator Protection (GCP) System of Turbogenerator for different fuel-based power plants in India region.

Job Description

Your Role:

  • Project design, engineering, manufacturing support, internal testing, customer FAT, erection supervision & commissioning capabilities for Generator Excitation & GCP/GPR (Generator Control Panel / Generator Protection Relays) including design of cabinets, regulation/control PLC, Power electronic components, Excitation Transformer, protection Relays, Generator synchronization scheme; with KPIs across projects including design reviews, on time delivery, in budget execution etc. for low to high rating generators of Hydro, Steam, Gas plants etc.

  • Ability to create engineering documents e.g., cabinet arrangement drawings, electrical schematic, Bill of Material (BOM) etc. on different engineering tools and support manufacturing teams for getting desired system as per customer requirements.

  • Perform system testing & customer inspection/FAT with compliance on electrical & people safety.

  • Evaluating of customer inputs and identify the technical risk during project execution & site interventions along with mitigation plans.

  • Lead technical discussion with customers, vendors & cross function.

  • Know how & solution on Third party communication e.g., MODBUS, IEC 101/104 and IEC 61850 etc.

  • Know how & engineering capability to define the generator protection scheme including protection matrix/ scheme, synchronization philosophy in compliance with electrical standards.

  • Able to understand the Power System Stabilizer study (PSS) & Grid code requirements design & perform commissioning as per country specific needs.

  • Work Closely with the Engineering, Field Service & Project Managers to deliver the projects & execute the site services as per schedule & customer satisfaction.

  • Lead Optimization, Standardization & Simplification efforts & Establish tools, template & processes to enable faster turnaround and improve productivity.

  • Ability to troubleshoot & fix the issues related to hardware, software or network faults.

  • Perform site commissioning, preventive maintenance, annual maintenance & shutdown activity across project/customer sites.

  • Solve the customer problems & make the system operational as per customer need.

  • Perform site interventions with good & fair customer feedback including timely submission of detailed site report & time sheet.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience with Electrical system design & commissioning including generator excitation & Protection (GCP) system.

  • Minimum 4-6 years of experience in commissioning of Generator Excitation (AVR) & Protection (GCP) system.

  • Experience in ALSPA / CONTROGEN & EX2100e Based AVR / Excitation Systems for medium to high rating Generator excitation & protection systems.

  • Good analytic and problem-solving skills

  • Good communication skills to serve customers in region.

Desired Characteristics

  • Knowledge of different electrical codes / standards for designing the excitation system & elsewise.

  • Knowledge of engineering tools e.g., Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), AutoCAD, E3 for electrical design, Inventor for Mechanical design etc.

  • Demonstrated effective problem-solving capabilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within and across various teams.

  • Self-starter, energizing, results-oriented, and able to multi-task; tenacious and organized.

  • Demonstrate ability to make recommendations to technical and program leadership to improve the product, process or technology.

  • Demonstrate communication, facilitation and influencing skills; ability to present ideas clearly and concisely.

  • Willing to travel frequently to serve customer & always available. ( 50%)
