General Electric Technician - Thermal Spray - Vernova Research in Niskayuna, New York

Job Description

At GE Vernova Research scientists, engineers, and technicians work to provide GE's businesses and strategic partners with technical innovations to advance energy transition for their future generation products, processes and services. As a Technician – Thermal Spray, you will:

Work with scientists and engineers to support the development of coating metallurgical processes and alloys. This can include, but not limited to, powder and sample preparation using standard techniques including sieving, mixing, and ball milling. Assisted in the operation including to run and maintain coaters as necessary. Work with scientists and engineers to coordinate samples, post processing, heat treatment, and coordinating machining of test bars and fixtures. As technician, you will work with periodic guidance, carry out experiments, perform a variety of measurements, obtain and prepare data, make experimental observations and report the results as necessary.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Associate degree in an engineering, technology, science or related discipline with a minimum of 3 years of experience or High School Diploma with a minimum of 5 years of experience

  • Experience in Thermal Spray technology including handling of powder, prepare slurry, program and operate spray booth, and post processing process

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to efficiently coordinate and perform multiple, concurrent tasks.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY

Desired characteristics

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint).

  • Familiarity with Thermal Spray techniques especially APS, SPS, and HVOF.

The weekly salary range for this position is $1,400-$2,000 USD. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location.
