Job Description Summary
• Operational, Fixed Facilities EHS position at GE Research
Roles and Responsibilities
Interpret internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to minimize health and safety risks, ensure regulatory compliance, and influence system design or installation design to ensure to alignment with industry / company best practice. Communicate difficult concepts and influence outcomes.
Complete risk evaluations to enable safe, incident free work.
Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational responsibility. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
Influence the development of strategy for the area(s) of operational responsibility including control of resources, budget, policy development and management
May lead cross-functional teams or projects
Provide safety training in areas of operational responsibility for GRC team members
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in engineering, safety, or related field
3-5 years progressive experience in safety or related field
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with safety standards such as OSHA, NFPA, ANSI
Must be 18 years or older
Must be willing to work out of an office in Niskayuna, NY
