General Electric Industrial Security Specialist in Niskayuna, New York

Job Description Summary

As a member of the GE Research Security Risk & Crisis Management Team, this position will serve as an Industrial Security Specialist supporting government programs within GE Research. Responsibilities include the implementation of the National Industrial Security Program (NISP), adhering to and assisting program personnel in complying with regulatory and company policies and procedures, assisting with investigations, security education, training, and awareness.

Job Description

The Industrial Security Specialist will provide assistance in the security administration of government contracts to assure compliance with 32CFRPart 117 NISPOM.

  • Implement compliance with 32CFR Part 117 NISPOM physical security and industrial requirements.

  • Adherence with security contractual obligations such as the Security Classification Guidance (SCG), Operational Security (OPSEC), etc.

  • Closely interact with Program Management, Security Management, Technical Staff and Information Security while coordinating room scheduling, classified meetings, briefings, personnel mentoring and facilities maintenance.

  • Draft and administer policies, practices and metrics which reflect the posture of the Security Program.

  • Maintain educational signage and compliance messaging on a weekly basis.

  • Participate in security related assessments and evaluations to ensure compliance with government regulations associated with the protection of classified materials.

  • Participate in security pre and post construction reviews.

  • Knowledge of Defense Information Security System, National Industrial Security System and active engagement with the GE Research security information management system.

  • Develop and conduct security education awareness training and briefings related to assigned contracts and locations.

  • Perform as a COMSEC custodian supporting program personnel in assigned locations.

  • Implement various aspects of industrial security functions to provide a safe and secure and compliant workplace for employees, contractors, visitors and suppliers to the site.

  • Coordinate personnel associated with assigned locations in room access, program briefings, near miss and mentoring.

  • Perform and or assist in all NISPOM related self-inspections, government inspections, audits, investigations, and classified material accountability.

  • Respond to alarms and events during business and non-business hours.

  • Contribute to investigations into National Security program-specific incidents that impact cleared personnel and incidents as requested by the Security Director.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • US Citizenship and a current SECRET security clearance with the ability to obtain a TOP SECRET security clearance.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a NISP, government compliance, Department of Defense setting, or security function.

  • Minimum of 2 years college education

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY
