General Electric Executive Chief Engineer – High Assurance Systems in Niskayuna, New York
Job Description Summary
As an Executive Chief Engineer of High Assurance Systems, you will work with engineering and product teams across various GE businesses like Aviation, Edison Works, Gas Power, Renewable Energy, and Healthcare to develop technology and product roadmaps that define the future of certification, V&V and evidence curation for software intensive critical infrastructure. You will shape and foster strategic collaborations with government partners, national laboratories, universities, and strategic technology / business partners to drive innovation for GE.
You will define the future of High Assurance Systems by:
Leading the strategy for the High Assurance Systems technology stack across various organizations within GE Research and across multiple GE businesses.
Work with the government to advance modeling & analysis tools to significantly reduce the cycle time required to develop, deploy and certify complex software for critical infrastructure.
Providing thought leadership on disruptive high assurance systems technologies and market trends with a strong understanding of what the competition is doing.
Work with GE Aviation and Edison works to develop and transition tools and techniques to reduce the cycle time required for certification.
Work with GE licensing to monetize the existing and future sets of tools created by the High Assurance systems team.
Work with the AI/ML team to develop tools and techniques to validate & certify AI & ML algorithms
You will collaborate with key GE business stakeholders and C-suite level executives as well as with external partners such as universities, national laboratories, and government agencies to:
lead early stage technology development with high disruption potential and mature these technologies from initial concept to successful product introduction.
coordinate disruptive technology efforts in close collaboration with our GE businesses and ensure that such efforts are incorporated into long-term multi-generational technology and product road maps that are competitive and cost effective.
You will lead the external strategy for High Assurance Systems to create and foster relationships with government agencies within the U.S. Department of Defense, DARPA, AFRL and the Department of Energy to influence and shape government funded research that aligns with GE interests by:
shaping and responding to government solicitations related to formal methods for system modeling and requirements modeling, automated testing, certification process optimization and safety modeling & analysis.
owning bid/no-bid decisions in response to funding opportunities related to formal methods for system modeling and requirements modeling, automated testing, certification process optimization and safety modeling & analysis.
leading multimillion-dollar R&D programs aligned with GE businesses.
identifying and mentoring key technical talent to serve as Principal Investigators on large government programs.
You will communicate these cross-organizational and cross-business technology strategies to Senior VP and CEO level executives across GE as well as to C-suite level stakeholders at external businesses, government agencies, and universities.
Doctorate degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or related engineering field with a minimum of 15 years of experience OR Master’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or related engineering field with a minimum of 20 years of experience
A minimum of 10 years of experience leading teams or large projects
Demonstrated deep domain knowledge in the areas of Formal Methods and V&V technologies.
Demonstrated deep domain knowledge in the area of Aviation certification and systems.
Experience leading large government research programs and writing successful R&D proposals
Experience leading large, multi-disciplinary research teams, and reporting out to Senior VP and CEO leadership levels
Due to the nature of the duties of this position, this role requires the individual to have a current or active Secret Clearance with an ability to attain a Top Secret Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship.
