General Electric Controller – GE Research in Niskayuna, New York

Role Summary:

As the Controller for GE’s Research Center, you will translate concepts, develop strategy, implement change, and create programs responsive to the external environment. You will be responsible for all operational and technical controllership for GE Research. In addition, this position plays a critical role in financial aspects of overall commercial negotiations and other operational activities to drive growth and profitability of the Global Research.

Essential Responsibilities:

In addition you will…

  • Advise business leaders regarding complex financial accounting and reporting issues and transaction structuring

  • Own overall financial reporting, advising on complex technical accounting matters, leading the controllership aspects of the margin review processes and re-design of such processes, developing policy, and also implementing the operational aspects of such accounting advice and polices.

  • Ensure preparation and completion of audited, consolidated, financial results

  • Report monthly operating results and direct finance activities

  • Perform strategic management and execution of controllership processes and provision of technical and/or operational advice to controllership and finance leaders

  • Interpret and implement GE General Accounting Procedures (GAP) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

  • Compliance focal point for accounting issues

  • Maintain accounting, financial reporting, financial control and information systems to ensure adequate records, ensure appropriate authorizations of transactions and safeguard assets

  • Key contact for Corporate and external auditors

Provide leadership across all accounting operations including account reconciliations, closing processes, financial systems maintenance, and general ledger data consistency / integrity

  • Manage the process, accuracy and compliance with GAAP across all financial reporting systems

  • Provide technical guidance across the business including communication / clarification of new rules, regulatory GAAP, and GE accounting policies

  • Oversee month-end and year-end closing process and streamline processes for distribution of financial information

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience in a variety of finance/accounting positions, handling complex issues

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals, now or in the future for employment visas, for this job opening.

  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY.

  • Must be 18 years or older.
