Job Description Summary

GE Licensing (GEL) monetizes GE technologies and intellectual property (IP) globally via creative commercialization structures ranging from Licensing to new venture creation, in partnership with GE Business units. This includes driving technology and program evaluation, complex financial models, market/business models and commercial deal structuring. It may also include negotiation and execution; including post deal obligations and growth. Emphasis will be on developing and executing go-to-market strategies for approved programs, deal and program/team structuring, supporting negotiation and program management; taking into account business constraints including market requires, IP encumbrances, regulatory, compliance, labor, trade controls and product strategies.

The role will bring direct financial and strategic value to GE; leading in building a culture of integrity, while pushing business boundaries. Develop financial models for complex Patent Partnerships supporting the development of various strategic commercial options. Considering revenue/cost and risk/mitigations associated with intellectual property (IP) and contractual requirements. Drive compliance through process improvements, standardization, and simplification.

Job Description

Role Summary/Purpose

Will build a career in IP commercialization, beginning with the development of financial models for patent pools - including patent & market geographies, legal jurisdictions, contract limitations and pool administration board matters. Lead Salesforce, Monthly Operating Reviews, and various Lean efforts improving KPIs delivering financial outcomes. Develop a broad skillset around IP commercial activity while supporting end-to-end transactions activity on a fast-paced team

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college

  • Minimum 2 years’ additional professional work experience in related field, Finance, analytics

  • Proficient in English

  • Ability to travel up to 20%

Location: Niskayuna, NY, or Boston preferred

Desired Characteristics

  • Advanced degree (M.S., M.A., MBA, PhD) in engineering, physical, software, finance or legal

  • Spreadsheet modeling experience required. Experience in financial modeling preferred

  • 2 years’ experience in Intellectual Property preferred

  • Interested in technology, intellectual property analysis and landscape assessment for Standard Essential Technologies

  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and work with minimal supervision in a fast-changing environment

  • Compelling communication (in oral and written form) with the ability to simplify complex matters to the critical few elements for presentation to peers

  • Demonstrate clear thinking in new or non-standard business models
