General Electric Process Safety Leader in Newark, Delaware

Role Summary:

The Process Safety Leader reports to the site EHS Leader and has the primary responsibility to develop and integrate process safety programs at the Newark, DE facility. The scope of this position will be to develop site PSM procedures and integrate them cross-functionally to reduce process safety risks and support general process safety activities.

Essential Responsibilities:

This position will be responsible for implementation of fully effective PSM programs activities at the site that will include: developing, implementing, and maintaining the processes for the 14 PSM elements, managing the site’s overall PHA program, acting as the site MOC manager, participating in PSM compliance audits, and working with the business PSM function to help standardize PSM program elements across the Value Stream.

This position will also support other process engineering tasks such as:

  • Supporting process engineers, operations, and technology scientists with product scale-ups, process improvements, and technology development/improvements.

  • Consulting with plant engineers to troubleshoot production problems; assists in designing and start-up of new processes.

  • Assisting with new process equipment specification and startups.In addition, this role will:

  • Serve as the key resource for the development and application of technical standards for process safety management. This position will implement business process safety work processes at the facility and will identify and address gaps for existing PSM covered processes.

  • Align PSM and other safety activities with operations leadership, site leadership teams, and EHS.

  • Ensure that processes are in place for sustainable process safety management which includes management of change (MOC), process safety information, mechanical integrity, safe operating limits, preventive and safety measures.

  • Support actions to resolve gaps from the established process safety standards.

  • Develop and track key process safety management performance measures, establishing accountability and closure of process safety gaps.

  • Support building core competency of process safety management for site. Demonstrate fluency in multiple areas of process safety (PHA; RCA; LOPA; HAZOP, etc.)

  • Assist in the planning and execution of the new product introduction process.

  • Participate in PSM incident investigations

  • Ensure Process Safety Management (PSM) decisions, interpretations, notifications and reports are in agreement, and well documented Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Environmental Health and Safety (EHS)

  • Chemical manufacturing experience with minimum of 5 years applied PSM experienceELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT:This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology.
