Job Description Summary
The machinist will machine ceramic matrix composites complex parts for the aerospace and rocket industries.
The Level II Machinist will operate one or more of the following machines: CNC Machining centers, CNC lathes, conventional mills, drills, lathes, grinders and / or other machines as assigned. Job scope will be working primarily on these machine –Weldon grinder.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities :
Provide machining support to the Production team
Independently set up and operate machines that are manual without probing capabilities and machine complex shapes to extremely tight tolerances for various equipment
Work from blueprints, operator inspection plans, manufacturing process documents & verbal instructions
Obtain required tooling and materials from departmental storage area, returning when job is completed
Obtain special tooling and inspection equipment as required
Make necessary adjustments to equipment and or tooling to attain specified dimensions and finishes
Perform in-process inspection as required on inspection plans using shop CMM
Change cutting tools and machine attachments as required
Notify operations when supplies reach low limit or are required, when tools need sharpening and when equipment needs maintenance
Light programming and ability to change offset as required
Move tools and material by hand truck, lift truck, conveyor, or manually
Keep area and equipment clean and orderly and lubricates equipment on a scheduled basis
Fill out all necessary forms and verify counts when work is completed
Ability to interpret and apply GD&T to machining, set-ups and inspection
Work with project engineers and devise new methods and processes to improve productivity or capabilities
Ability to work independently and perform all work in a safe manner
Maintains a safe work environment and corrects hazards when identified
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
10 years machining experience on manual machines
Qualifications/Requirements :
Experience on a Weldon.
Good knowledge of GD&T
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a team environment
Ability to influence others and lead small teams
Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact
Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
Effective problem identification and solution skills
Proven analytical and organizational ability
Experienced with entering data into a database
Ability to use common hand tools and basic measurement devices
