General Electric Senior Advanced Manufacturing Process Engineer in New Orleans, Louisiana

Job Description Summary

The Senior Process Engineer in the Renewable Energy Additive organization will drive innovation in composite and additive manufacturing design for competitiveness in cost and performance, with specific focus on Wind Turbine Blade Manufacturing. The role will focus on developing and validating proprietary additive and composites processes and scaling them up in production once development is complete. The Sr. Process Engineer is expected to have broad technical expertise across multiple manufacturing processes and materials in both R&D and production environments and to further develop deep expertise in large-scale additive technologies for high volume production. In addition to the technical hands on aspects, this role will also require the development of short and long range roadmaps to support further deployment of additive and advanced manufacturing processes across the Renewable Energy business and to collaborate with other businesses to drive further innovation in the space.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Be accountable for the technical program’s success

  • Work with various sites and stakeholders in the business to identify high ROI applications, test/validate/scale up the design, prove out of the application and support the local teams to deploy additive and advanced manufacturing processes into production.

  • Be a part of our New Product Introduction process to influence designs to incorporate design for additive standards so low cost / shorter lead time solutions are part of initial production release.

  • Develop and drive short and long term roadmaps to support further deployment of additive and advanced manufacturing processes across the Renewable Energy business.

  • Support technology hand-off to production including providing documentation, training, and factory start up support.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline

  • Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience

  • Doctorate in Engineering, from an accredited college or university
