Job Description Summary
The Field Service Engineer - Marine under general guidance and minimal supervision, performs a wide range of engineering tasks and ensures proper installation, service and commissioning of products and services. Provides technical support for installation and commissioning of projects and provides maintenance, breakdown emergency support and remote troubleshooting.
Roles and Responsibilities
As Field Service Engineer - Marine, you will:
Perform troubleshooting activities at site locations to diagnose problems, determine appropriate resolution, and implements corrective actions
Develop requisite documentation to execute work e.g. commissioning procedures, maintenance procedures daily logs etc.
Perform installation and commissioning activities at customer site locations
Under the direction of a senior engineer performs a wide range of engineering tasks to ensure the technical integrity and proper installation and commissioning of GE Marine Automation systems (Dynamic Positioning Systems [DP], Power Management Systems[PMS], Vessel Management Systems [VMS] & Alarm and Monitoring Systems [AMS])
Develop presentations and provides training and instruction to customers on GE Marine Automation System operations
Coordinate additional opportunities to serve the customer with the customer service team, parts, other FSE’s, repair services, sales, and product engineering teams
Advise the customer of recommended upgrades, parts, and service opportunities to improve customer productivity and sell GE parts and services
Coordinate maintenance activities for the customer and planning for inspections
Provide support to engineering teams working on customer CMU’s projects
Provide support the bidding process for the customer CMU’s projects
Identify new opportunities & development of effective offerings to improve in-service equipment reliability / availability
Promote sales of maintenance services
Perform other related engineering tasks to facilitate proper commissioning and customer satisfaction
Provide on call support in response to customer calls for service
Ensure appropriate response and service is provided to customer
Complete timely service reports and other administrative requirements
Support business growth opportunities and marketing campaigns
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university
Minimum 4 to 5 years of field service and/or commissioning experience
Additional Eligibility Requirements:
- Ability and willingness to travel 85% of the time
Field Service and Commissioning experience with drives and/or power and/or automation systems and/or dynamic positioning
Minimum of 4 to 5 years of experience with PLCs, IO Modules, & HMI etc.,
Ability to Program, configure and test PLCs & HMIs using industry standard programming tools and Workbenches.
Ability to execute increasingly complicated assignments, which require considerable engineering skill and creative ability and independent judgment
Possess detailed knowledge, competence and expertise with installation and commissioning tasks and services
Strong computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Office applications
Ability to learn and follow defined departmental policies, procedures, and practices
Background in a customer facing position, within a Service environment
