General Electric GE Transportation Services Intern in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Role Summary:

The Technical Advisor Co-Op will assist the on-duty TA to provide expertise in an advisory capacity to the railroad. In this role you will learn to build individual locomotive work plans, assist with meeting day-to-day short-term objectives, and the other various duties a TA has daily. The goal is to be ready for a Technical Advisor position by time of graduation.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist TA’s with coordinating and providing instruction on key programs and procedures related to locomotive maintenance / modifications

  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to create repair opportunities in the shop and to gain access to craftsman labor force

  • Work as part of a cross functional team, driving a "one team" focus, dedicated to customer success within the shop

  • Begin completing the various GE Level 1 Locomotive Online Training courses

  • Begin completing Level 1 TA OJT tasksLearn to navigate GE eServices, catalogs, schematics, and other various resources

  • Learn to use and navigate customers computer system

  • Gain understanding of emission standards and emission critical components

  • Learn the various acronyms GE uses

  • Complete various short-term projects given by shop manager

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Must be a full-time student enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical discipline from an accredited college or university

  • Minimum 3.0 GPAAbility to pass a drug screen and background check

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willingness and ability to work various shifts, various days

  • Willingness and ability to work in shop environment

Desired Characteristics:

  • JR or SR year of Bachelor's Degree in Technical discipline from an accredited college or university

  • Proficiency in MS office applications

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Ability to influence others and lead small teams

  • Ability to lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact

  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously

  • Strong and effective problem identification and solution skills

  • Proven analytical and quality / process improvement skills
