Job Description Summary

The purpose of this job is to provide Project Controlling which includes time scheduling and cost controlling on projects. This job is for Project Controllers who are responsible for both cost and schedule on projects.

Dedicated and results-oriented Project Controller with expertise in finance, cost control and schedule control. Adept at identifying discrepancies and implementing effective solutions to ensure projects stay within budget and adhere to timelines.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Participates to build integrated schedules and cost estimates.

  • Participates to build project schedule and project budgeting in cost and schedule tools.

  • Ensures compliance to the GE Standard process for Project Controls.

  • Supports PM/PD to align project budgets to as sold in appropriate systems.

  • Maintains project schedule and cost forecast throughout project.

  • Analyses schedule and cost trends and participates to provide forecasted cost and schedules.

  • Participates to build a register of potential schedule and cost risks.

  • Participates to reviews of actual and committed costs.

  • Checks and controls cost movements, compares with current scope and progress as well as with previous forecast. Also Compares with productivity factors and validates accuracy of estimates.

  • Supports internal Project Controller to communicate schedule and cost status/forecasts/risk to functional cost owners and drives/supports risk mitigation.

  • Provides internal and external project reporting of project status.

  • Collaborate with 3rd parties on project cost and schedules.

  • Knowledgeable of financial data, attends project and management reviews to support cost status.

  • Supporting PM/PD providing customer with change order calculations to ensure schedule and cost estimates are accurate (participate in commercial negotiation meetings with customer).

  • Supports internal Project Controller to update changes in appropriate systems to ensure costs are aligned to the current situation.

  • Support project close out and claims management.

  • Provide support to tenders, when needed.

Accountabilities

  • Quality of the project controlling reporting.

  • Accuracy of cost budgets, actuals and forecasts.

  • Collaboration with functional cost owners to find strategies to reduce cost.

  • Knowledge of GE standards (WBS, process, procedures, tools usage)

  • Communication with customer for project progress.

  • Communication with customer for any cost justifications.

  • Attending progress review meeting with customer.

  • Create, submit and follow up customer invoicing.

  • Coordinate with the finance and cost control internal teams, when required.

Quality

  • Comply with Quality Procedures, work instructions and processes.

  • Report or resolve any non-conformances and process in a timely manner.

  • Demonstrate commitment to safety through participation in formal and informal discussions.

  • Adhere to all safe working procedures in accordance with instructions.

  • Ensure safety work instructions are complied.

  • Participate in the resolution of safety issues.

  • Initiate actions to improve health and safety, where needed.

Educational Requirements:

  • Degree qualified either in finance or may have engineering degree (with financial training).

Experience and Knowledge:

  • 5+ years planning large turnkey projects (preferable)

  • 2+ projects as cost controlling on large turnkey projects (preferable)

  • Knowledge of Oracle Primavera P6 to monitor project schedules, track progress of activities, and identify potential risks.

  • Collaboration with project teams to ensure timely and accurate updates to the project schedule, allowing for real-time monitoring and adjustments.

  • Understanding budget allocations to identify and raise any variances against the approved budget.

  • Participation of regular cost reviews to analyze actual expenses against the budget, providing actionable insights for cost-saving measures.

  • Employment of SAP and Oracle Unifier to access and analyze financial data, facilitating accurate and up-to-date cost reporting.

  • Preparation of detailed cost forecasts, including cash flow projections, to assist internally in decision-making and resource allocation.

  • Participation of comprehensive reports on project cost and schedule performance, presenting findings to key stakeholders and senior management.

  • Participation of process improvements to enhance project efficiency and control measures.
