Job Description Summary
As Software Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for providing functional leadership for a software development team focused on delivering solutions for Monitoring Solutions next generation communication and IoT platform. The leader works globally with Monitoring Solutions segment teams, Enterprise teams, as well as cross functional stakeholders to advance the platform roadmap.
We are looking for candidates with proven technical leadership experience in complex large-scale enterprise/IoT initiatives. This role will be part of global leadership team responsible for delivering a key technology solution fundamental to Monitoring Solutions future roadmap of life saving products and solutions. To enable success, an individual in this role must be passionate about enabling technical talent across multiple facets - career, culture and lean development processes.
Functional leadership of the team, including recruitment, team/talent development, skill set improvement, and mentoring.
Equip team with a modern software development toolkit that is aligned with the MS Enterprise Software Factory
Lead engineering teams through the product development lifecycle while meeting quality, regulatory compliance, cost and business targets
Drive state of the art software development best practices, design methodologies, and Agile software principles
Partner with Global Product and Program Managers to develop software focused solutions for the product roadmap
Work with stakeholders to understand their needs and to capture system and subsystem requirements.
Demonstrate accountability & communication skills to drive development rigor, innovation, & collaboration within the segment team and across Monitoring Solutions globally
Ensure that organizational design, functional expertise and engineering process of the software technology team is positioned for excellence
Partner with other engineering managers to ensure the success of the Monitoring Solutions engineering programs
Drive a culture that ensures outstanding compliance and adherence to product quality in all areas of the GEHC Quality Management System
Engage in business planning processes, recruitment, retention, talent acquisition, development, and mentoring
Collaborate with peers across functions (e.g., Marketing, QA/RA, Supply Chain, Service) to drive a high-performance team environment.
Demonstrate excellent communication, influencing skills and ability to gain buy-in for initiatives
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related degree
Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience in a related field
Engineering work experience with increasing responsibility in systems, software and people leadership
Demonstrated competency in providing leadership and coaching to individual engineers
Strong knowledge of software development process methodologies, including Agile software development, and related tools, metrics and operations
Demonstrated experience in any of the following: System Design, Subsystem designs including hardware and/or software.
Demonstrated technical leadership capability working on a product development team.
Proven communication, coaching and interpersonal skills, at all levels of the organization. Able to energize and inspire
Proven track record to lead engineering teams and deliver on business and program goals
Demonstrated ability to deliver results while working on multiple projects simultaneously, balancing resources, timing and quality of outcomes.
Ability to manage priority tradeoffs in shared resources to optimize program deliveries
Demonstrated engineering knowledge, project scheduling, and business planning processes, having experience with the full product lifecycle
This is a remote/hybrid role. Ability to periodically commute to the Wauwatosa offices on an as needed basis would be beneficial.
Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related degree
Domain expertise in Service-Oriented and IoT architectures
Demonstrated knowledge of FDA design controls requirements Team player able to work effectively and influence peers and global team members
Experience with global product releases throughout the entire product lifecycle
Demonstrated technical expertise and domain experience
Proven ability to successfully partner with technology peers and business leaders to drive change
Creative problem solver and solution developer when presented with conflicting requirements, business demands and technical risks/issues.
Responsive and willing to take ownership of issues and drive solutions
Previous experience in regulated medical device company
