Role Summary:

Due to our expanding product roadmap, the Monitoring Solutions team is adding a senior level mechanical design engineer. This individual will lead and participate in the development of monitoring products, conduct design reviews, and ensure that all program deliverables adhere to plan. This role requires cross functional leadership and interaction with Sourcing, Manufacturing and Quality team members to ensure the product and quality goals set forth by the business are met.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Leads mechanical and electro-mechanical design efforts, including design visualization in 3D CAD models to meet the requirements of our monitoring products

  2. Owns product architecture and solution from concept to mass-production

  3. Drives innovation, optimization and simplification

  4. Acts as a subject matter expert to drive design reviews

  5. Develops design alternatives to meet all requirements for performance, reliability, cost and manufacturability

  6. Establishes and maintains performance, quality, vitality, and reliability for monitoring products

  7. Provides project leadership for mechanical design activities within assigned programs, including estimating schedule and resource requirements, product cost, requirements development, status reports

  8. Takes on project leadership responsibilities as needed to support successful new product development

Qualifications/Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

  2. Minimum of 6 years of related work experience in the areas of injected molded plastic design, sheet metal design, mechanisms, cables and harnesses, labeling and packaging

  3. Minimum of 5 years of experience in 3D CAD design and analysis

  4. Demonstrated capability to meet and measure quality and reliability goals, including the appropriate use of Design For Reliability tools

  5. Demonstrated project leadership and influencing skills

  6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills

U.S. (Country) Specific Qualifications

  1. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States full-time without sponsorship at time of hire

  2. Must be willing to work in our Milwaukee, WI facility full-time

Desired Characteristics:

  1. Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

  2. 6+ years of experience with 3D CAD (Creo, ANSYS)

  3. Demonstrated capabilities in thermal and mechanical simulation

  4. Demonstrated capabilities in finite element analysis

  5. Demonstrated experience with 3D printing and fast prototyping

  6. Design for manufacturing experience

  7. Ability to coach and mentor junior engineers

  8. Demonstrated understanding of a regulated healthcare industry and knowledge of FDA requirements

  9. Medical device design experience (IEC 60601-1, and 510k submission)

  10. Familiarity with engineering change and part release processes

  11. Familiarity with PDM/Oracle software (e.g. MyWorkshop)

  12. Demonstrated planning and leadership of development programs

  13. Creative problem solver and solution developer when presented with conflicting requirements, business demands and technical risks/issues

  14. Problem solver and clear thinker when presented with conflicting requirements, business demands and technical risks/issues. Responsive and willing to take ownership of issues and drive solutions
