General Electric Director of Commercial Innovation Handheld Ultrasound in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Job Description Summary

The U/S Handheld Commercial Innovation Leader is responsible to develop new sales channels and strategic partnerships in each region that uniquely enable GE to reach Handheld Ultrasound customers and increase market share. This can include establishing and nurturing relationships with KOLs and DOLs, developing new sales channels through eCommerce, creating strategic partnerships and global distribution contracts, and working with direct sales teams to drive commercial engagement.

The U/S Handheld Commercial Innovation Leader will work alongside the handheld global marketing manager and the global product team to provide key customer and competitive insights and to drive a customer-first mindset in all aspects of the business.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

In this role you will work closely with the handheld global marketing manager, global product leaders, and regional sales and marketing to drive key product or region initiatives and campaigns, focusing on care areas such as Primary Care, Emergency & Critical Care, Anesthesia Care, Vascular Access and Sports Medicine. The main responsibilities include:

KOL/DOL relationships

  • Work with regions to identify key opinion leaders and digital opinion leaders. Create and nurture relationships to create value for both GE and the KOL.

  • Collaborate with customers on marketing content, education development and product feedback.

Developing sales channels

  • Evaluate which market segments would benefit from strategic partnerships or distribution, identify potential partners, lead contract negotiations, and operationalize with regions.

  • Optimize eCommerce by understanding customers’ online purchasing journey; gathering the insights and incorporating the insights into sales and marketing tactics.

  • Identify new sales channels and develop alternative sales models to reach a broader customer base.

  • Collaborate with direct sales teams on programs aimed to improve visibility, win rate and engagement.

Product Management and marketing collaboration

  • Develop and implements creative tools/techniques enabling sales execution and market acceptance of new products and business initiatives.

  • Serve as the voice of the customer to product teams during development.

  • Work with marketing on campaigns to better reach potential customer base.

  • Responsible for pricing, bundles, and subscriptions


  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications or related field

  2. Capacity to learn the handheld ultrasound market, target groups, and products

  3. Experience working across multiple levels, functions and regions; able to clearly communicate in an easy to understand manner; able to deliver message effectively verbally and in writing

  4. Capacity to travel domestically and internationally as required (around 20% travel time).

  5. Applicants must hold currently valid work authorization for employment in the U.S.A. and work within the U.S.A.

Desired Characteristics

  1. MBA or Master’s degree in Marketing

  2. 10+ years experience in sales, market development, product development or product marketing

  3. Healthcare product/industry acumen

  4. Curious, creative, self-starting approach

  5. Ability to work at all levels of the organization and with diverse, cross-functional teams

  6. Innovation – develop new ideas through collaboration and execute on creative ideas

  7. Strong analytical and process skills

  8. Excellent project management and listening skills; open-minded, reliable team-player and able to manage multiple projects in parallel to meet business requirements and deadlines.

  9. Excellent oral and written communications skills
