General Electric Steam Power – Sales Ops Intern – Summer2021 in Midlothian, Virginia

Role Summary:The Sales Ops Intern will support the Steam Power Americas Commercial Team to solve problems and improve processes which will help the $1B Steam Power Services business achieve its operating plan.

Essential Responsibilities:This role requires an analytical, detail-oriented thinker who will aid the Steam Power Americas Commercial team in solving problems, streamlining processes, building tools, and connecting data sources.

In this role, you may support problem solving and process improvement in the following areas:

  • Pricing analytics, tools, and databases

  • Commercial process value stream mapping

  • Analytics

  • System and tools alignment

  • Targeted growth opportunities

  • Data quality

Qualifications/Requirements:Must have one to two semesters left prior to graduation and be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program in an engineering discipline as listed below.

Following majors accepted: Engineering, Business, Marketing, Finance or related discipline


  • Must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (without rounding).

  • Must submit your application for employment through interview to be considered

  • Must be willing to take a drug test as part of the selection process

  • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • Must be able to develop and maintain good customer relationships

  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license

  • Must be willing to work in geographical area specified by the business


May/June to August 2021 (Summer)

Desired Characteristics:

  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Tableau proficiency preferred

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Proficient use of Salesforce and/or Tableau preferred

  • Basic understanding of financial business metrics

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
