General Electric Lead Region Counsel – LATAM in Mexico City, Mexico

Role Summary:

A Lead Region Counsel- Latam is primarily responsible for structuring and negotiating highly structured commercial contracts with customers and to provide guidance and support to the business on conducting activities in compliance with laws, regulations and GE policies. These transactions typically include a wide range hardware and software product and services offerings.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing and executing legal strategies to enable compliant commercial success in the region

  • Partner with the business in a tangible way focusing on the development of compliant solutions for customers

  • Provide technical compliance support for commercial team in structuring commercial transactions

  • Provide advice and counsel to leadership on various commercial contracts, legal issues and acceptable business compromises

  • Provide legal support and expertise regarding legal issues, including commercial transactions, property and equipment leases, creditors' rights, business and transportation regulation

  • Work with other members of the legal team to provide general business law support to GE Current teams

  • Partner with others in the legal function globally

  • With region leader, coach and train the regional team to self-identify risks early in the deal process

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate (or country equivalent) from an accredited law school with active bar membership

  • Minimum 7 years of business law experience at a large law firm or corporate legal department, including but not limited to drafting, negotiating and closing complex business transactions in a regulated environment

  • Demonstrated experience identifying and resolving legal issues quickly and effectively

  • Demonstrated experience prioritizing conflicting demands from multiple business clients in an extremely fast-paced environment. Strong analytical and communications skills

  • Creative; work well in teams, strong initiative

  • Ability to integrate legal and business objectives
