Job Description Summary

The Sr Staff Manager role is an Americas Growth Leader (AGL) who is required to drive business development globally for the Grid business, to generate new pipeline and orders. The AGL will execute the Business Development Framework (BDF) to proactively take differentiated sales strategies to serve market segments. In the execution of the BDF the AGL will work closely with the Product Line Managers, Marketing Leaders, Regional Sales Directors, Sales Managers and Solution Architects.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Owns the effective execution of the BDF within the Americas, which commercializes product line strategy, identifies segment targets, qualifies new market opportunity and in doing so drives fully qualified, high quality pipeline aligned to new customer acquisition into SPEAK.

  • Supports the Product Managers and Marketing Leaders in the definition of the Americas go-to-market strategies which will drive exponential growth for the Grid business.

  • Ensures the product line growth strategies are taken to market as effectively as possible through the execution of the BDF to drive high quality qualified pipeline aligned to new customer acquisition.

  • Ensures the results of each qualification activity are documented effectively and ready to be communicated to the leadership team as required.

  • Owns the sustained and continual year on year Americas pipeline growth and supports the Sales Managers and wider Business Development Units in converting that pipeline into orders.

  • Drives the effective hand off of fully qualified pipeline to the assigned Sales Manager.

  • Fully supports the product line in the development of customer focused, fully differentiated sales collaterals required to ensure the sales engagements with our customers can be as good as they can be. This to include value propositions, elevator pitches, sales presentations, business processes, business cases, pricing models and other collaterals as required to enable outcome based selling.

  • Work with the Solution Architecture team to ensure where appropriate each sales campaign is supported by a fully aligned, business process driven demo capability.

  • Work with Sales team to provide segment specific coaching and sales training.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) + with 10 years of experience min; OR a high school diploma / GED with with at least 14 years of experience.

Expected Pre-requisites:

  • Extensive experience executing business development activities within the utility sector

  • Proven pro-active approach, anticipating future problems -- i.e., can anticipate problems, plan ahead and mitigate their effect … rather than just "record" what's already happened

  • Proven experience on managing at an appropriate level -- i.e., avoiding micromanagement, but having a control plan in place that allows effective monitoring/control of the project

  • Proven experience planning, organising and controlling activities -- job layout, critical path, sequencing, control plan, and ability to resolve complex problems

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with both internal staff and external customers and suppliers

  • Experienced in leading teams
