Job Description Summary
The Lean Engineer performs the daily operations of plants to ensure reliability and consistency on the production line in service shop. Requires mastery of a body of theoretical knowledge. Requires developed and strong foundation of function skills and knowledge of relevant technologies.
Connects the voice of the customer (VOC) to the targets to improve (TTI) and leader standard work (LSW)
Works in cross functional teams both at the Gemba/Genba (actual shop floor) and Obeya (great room)
Engages in breakthrough initiatives such as transformation rhythms, shop strategy reviews, and cell control centers (CCC) and the plant control center (PCC)
Supports the continuous improvement of key process indicators (KPI) and the sustainment of standard work process improvements – both transactional and non-transactional
Implements 5S & Visual Management standards and controls
Works on complex solutions and implements new solutions utilizing both Lean and technology
Leads kaizen problem solving events and oversees the implementation of future state value stream maps (VSM) and transformation plans to eliminate process constraints
Facilitates, prioritizes, and owns an active pipeline of waste reduction projects, action work outs (AWOs), and action plans for the McAllen site
Coach, mentor, and train others in all Lean Six Sigma DMAIC concepts and tools
Presents product / program strategies, Lean roadmaps, risks, and recommendations to Senior Leaders
Defines processes, IT tools, trainings, systems, etc. to be used by the manufacturing community
Specifies needs, communicates about project approach and presents outcomes of research done
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Engineering from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Manufacturing)
Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience in Production Process and Equipment

Must pass background and drug screens.
