Job Description Summary

As Specialist - Testing for Critical Infrastructure Communications (CIC) at GE Grid Solutions, you will be responsible for assisting engineers by working to solve technical problems. The Specialist - Testing also works as part of a team to organize, setup, and execute all test related activities in the lab. Essential Responsibilities:

  • Comprehend and perform testing as directed by the larger engineering teams

  • Assist engineers in routine tasks such as retrieving needed materials on demand but can also involve the technician's deep engagement with the test, such as helping to run and monitor the equipment under test

  • Build prototype systems, test fixtures, and managed related equipment in support of engineering and laboratory testing.

  • Trouble shoot, repair, and maintain laboratory and laboratory test equipment

  • Ensure the safe operation of tests and test equipment

  • Setup, execute and document all test related activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Engineering

  • OR high school diploma / GED and a minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience with Telecommunications and Data Communication products.

  • Working knowledge of the following: MPLS, ethernet, switched networks SONET, SDH, T1/E1, PCM

  • Working experience with test equipment: ethernet, T1/E1 and datacom testers, signal generators, oscilloscopes

  • Experience with Python and Linux OS

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks, and quickly adapt in a fast-paced engineering environment.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

  • Familiarity with test automation software (ex. TestStand, LabView, etc.).

  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaborate with a team to resolve technical issues.

  • Excellent organizational, written communication, and oral communication skills.

  • Team player, customer advocate, and innovative problem solver.
