Job Description Summary

This position is responsible for leading the development and delivery of a multi-phased program for training commercial nuclear operators and technicians for a new generation of Nuclear Power stations.

The program will adopt a systematic approach to training and will include the following disciplines/roles; Human Performance Engineering, Curriculum Development, development and use of Advanced Simulation Products/Training Aids, Courseware development, Training and Education delivery and Trainee management

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall strategic direction and guidance related to nuclear regulatory compliance for a Systematic Approach to Training. Develop integrated training plan to support plant start-up and operations to include certified and non-certified Operator (Canada,) Technician, Engineering, Plant Services, and licensed and non-licensed Operator (US) training programs.

  • Establishes and maintains relationships with key partners on the program.

  • Develop strategy for resource needs for initial program development as well as long term strategic partnerships for continuing training programs.

  • Technical direction for all phases of new training development.

  • Develop innovative training approaches, including remote and virtual reality environments, in addition to a simulator-based training aspect to the certified operator training program.

  • Supports customer activity related to development program activities, program review sessions with the customer associated with cost, schedule, and technical performance related to training program development.

  • Embracement and practice of a Nuclear Culture of Safety.

  • Advocate for nuclear training effectiveness.

  • Ensure the training curriculum, instructional content, training equipment and training processes are in accordance with regulatory requirements, recognized nuclear standards, and best practices.

  • Maintain the training program instructional and training effectiveness.

  • Serve as a representative with nuclear industry organizations (e.g., COG, INPO, WANO, EPRI)

  • Participate in the negotiation of contract, and contract changes, as well as memorandums of understanding and teaming/partnering arrangements.

Basic Qualifications :

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college and capability typically achieved through extensive professional experience.

  • Will also consider individuals with equivalent experience / combined education.

  • Experience in supporting nuclear regulatory reviews.

Desired Qualifications :

  • Considered senior authority in the discipline.

  • Proven performance and broad experience within the Nuclear Power industry to include nuclear power generation.

  • Possesses knowledge of relevant domestic and international nuclear power regulations, codes and standards to include their application in US and Canada.

  • Experience in coordinating/implementing project plans.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, leadership qualities and presentation/ communication skills.

  • Ability to confidently present materials to peers, customers and senior GEH leadership.

  • Experience leading multi-disciplined teams through the development of courseware, education materials, software modules, and hardware elements in order to deliver a comprehensive training and accreditation environment.
