General Electric Software Security Engineer in Madison, Wisconsin

Job Description Summary

As the Software Security Engineer, you will have an opportunity to grow your skills beyond software engineering and security in this new function within GE Healthcare. You will drive security engineering and help us achieve ATO (Authorization to Operate) for our DXA Systems (bone density measurement devices) that are widely used by the Department of Defense (DoD).

You will work in a small, but high functioning team of both hardware & software engineers and interface with internal teams, as well as DoD entities.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Define, develop, and evolve software security solutions in a fast paced and agile development environment

  • Design robust security system architectures that align with multi-generational software framework and allows future product expansion

  • Provide technical leadership to identify threats and vulnerabilities in DXA systems and software

  • Work in collaboration with the Government Accounts team and DoD customers to provide technical security details related to the DXA products

  • Apply current and evolving Cybersecurity DoD requirements and make the necessary modifications to DXA products (software, hardware, Operating System, etc.) to ensure these can meet DoD ATO requirements and become certified

  • Perform monthly testing of newly release security patches and assessment of newly released DoD ATO maintenance requirements

  • Interact with DoD customers to discuss security requirements

  • Complete cybersecurity questionnaires as required for DoD and other types of accounts

  • Work closely with hardware, systems, application, marketing, service, clinical teams and customers in requirements gathering and systems design

  • Apply principles of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and methodologies like Lean/Agile/Extreme Programming (XP), Continuous Improvement, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering with a strong focus on security

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in C++ (we are a Windows environment) and object oriented design methodologies

Desired Experience

  • Experience with US DoD RMF desired
