Job Description Summary
The Staff Engineer demonstrates leadership and program/technical accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role, you will identify/integrate/develop existing and new processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.
Roles and Responsibilities
Maintain design ownership and responsibility for T700, T64 & T408 engines Hot Section rotor hardware, including cooling plates, disks and shafts. Develop and leverage in-depth knowledge of rotating parts discipline, building on experience and acquired technical expertise. Provide technical leadership and program leadership mentoring to engineers with less experience.
Use understanding of key business drivers to accomplish own work while establishing priorities for other team members and external resources. Execute high-complexity projects with support from rotor CTHs, while managing program schedule and workscope to meet business needs.
Leverage component, module, or systems level analysis and hardware expertise utilizing tools such as Unigraphics/NX, ANSYS and GE SIESTA tools.
Lead field investigations, collect data, conduct analyses and report on root cause and corrective actions. Lead other organizational initiatives as needed.
Coordinate, develop and present material for technical and program reviews with leadership teams.
Demonstrates leadership across organization by influencing and collaborating with teams toward common goals
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or Computer Science from an accredited college or university
A minimum 5 years of experience in an engineering position
Complex component, module or systems level analysis and/or hardware expertise
Demonstrated ability to document, plan and manage programs
Experience leading cross-functional teams in coordination / collaboration
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to guide / mentor and influence others
Experience working with global teams
