General Electric Senior Staff Engineer - Military Engine Technology Programs - Systems Engineering in Lynn, Massachusetts
Job Description Summary
This systems engineer will be part of GE’s Advanced Programs organization for military engines & technologies, responsible for shaping GE's pre-TRL 6 technology development strategy, as well as executing that strategy from TRL 2 through TRL 6. This systems engineer will be responsible for defining technology roadmaps, supporting customer whitepapers and proposals, and leading execution of technology development programs as the lead systems engineer and project manager. Technology development programs may range from analysis activities to component, rig, or demo engine testing. This role in particular requires a versatile systems engineer who will be responsible for a diverse collection of technology development activities including: rotating detonation combustion, turbine flowpath durability, infrared suppression, and hypersonics.
Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs. This discipline executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed.

Conducts component and product integration. All activities span multiple components and products and are concerned with how to integrate for maximum performance and operability.
Manages product and systems requirements, specifications and flow down. Responsible for defining product requirements for the module / component / subcontractors and partners teams.
Drives validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including system level testing.
Manages interface between components and execution organizations.
Responsible for driving CTQ / Risk trades within the teams designing the components.
Manages the overall product configuration and configuration control system.
Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services.
Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or college (or high school diploma/6 years of discipline centered experience in Systems Engineering)..
A minimum of 8 years of experience in an engineering position.
Must have the ability to acquire a US Security clearance.
Desired Characteristics
Technically versatile with experience in one or more of the following aspects of engine design and technology: combustion (especially rotating detonation), turbine flowpath durability, infrared suppression, and/or hypersonics.
Experience in program management.
