General Electric Lead Producibility Engineer – T408 Turboshaft Engine Systems in Lynn, Massachusetts

Job Description Summary

Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. It consists of all activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customer with the goal of providing a quality product, on-time, that meets requirements. This role will focus on the systems integration aspects of maintaining a robust component manufacturing, engine assembly, and test processes. The systems engineer will collaborate in a cross-functional environment that includes design engineering, sourcing, manufacturing programs, quality, assembly, and test. They will also maintain an open line of communication with their US Military engineering counterparts.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Conducts component and product integration in a production manufacturing environment.

  • Collaborates on all activities that span multiple components and impact systems level requirements.

  • Ensure that product and systems requirements and specifications are flowed down.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional team to meet engine delivery commitments.

  • Drives validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including system level testing.

  • Manages interface between components and execution organizations.

  • Responsible for driving CTQ / Risk trades within the teams designing the components.

  • Collaborates with Configuration Management to validate the overall product configuration and configuration control system.

  • Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute policy/strategy.

  • Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market

  • Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles.

  • Uses technical experience and analytical thinking.

  • Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.

  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

  • May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements.

  • Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field.

  • Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.

  • Will utilize and drive lean principles to improve the team’s efficiency

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or college

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Supply Chain or Engine Systems related discipline.

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.

  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.

  • Established project management skills.

  • Gas Turbine Engine related experience in Systems Engineering or related discipline.

  • Gas Turbine Engine supply chain or manufacturing programs experience

  • Demonstrated success in applying lean principles to solve complex problems.

  • Experience working in the defense industry and working with military customers.

  • Master’s degree in engineering
