General Electric Lead Engineer - Mechanical Component-2 in Lynn, Massachusetts

Job Description Summary

The Lead Engineer will be part of the Rotorcraft / Turboprop Hot Section Design Team and will be a design engineer responsible for hot section hardware (i.e turbine airfoils, rotors, structures and/or combustors). In this role the lead engineer will be the hardware owner of components, solving problems that arise in the manufacturing or operation of helicopter engine components through design changes, calculations, and investigations.

Roles and Responsibilities

Design ownership and responsibility for T700, T64 & T408 engines Hot Section components. Develop in-depth knowledge of the applicable parts’ discipline(s), building on experience and acquired technical expertise.

Use developed understanding of key business drivers to accomplish own work while assisting less experience teammates and supporting external resources.

Execute medium-complexity projects autonomously or high-complexity programs with guidance from senior engineering resources, while managing program schedule and workscope to meet business needs.

Develop component, module, or systems level analyses and hardware expertise utilizing tools such as Unigraphics/NX, ANSYS and GE SIESTA tools.

Lead or participate in field investigations, collecting data, conducting analysis and reporting on root cause and corrective actions. Support other organizational initiatives as needed.

Coordinate, develop and present material for technical and program reviews with external customers and leadership teams.

Demonstrate leadership across organization by influencing and collaborating with teams toward common goals.

Required Qualifications

For roles outside of the USA- This role requires advanced experience in the Engineering/Technology & Mechanical Component. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma with relevant experience).

For roles in USA - Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in Design Engineering).

Desired Characteristics

Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.

This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
