General Electric Project Manager, Tooling Engineering in Lunderskov, Denmark

Job Description Summary

The Project Manager position is based in Denmark and has the responsibility to further development of tooling and line equipment for blade manufacturing, implement tooling and line equipment in LM Wind Power globally plants operation.

The Project Manager, lead works close together with the system responsible (blade engineering & blade manufacturing process teams) on defining needs regarding new developments and execute the design in close collaboration with the tooling engineering team.

Specifically, the department objective is to ensure that line equipment and tooling are developed in compliance with applicable norms and standard, ensure that line equipment and tools delivered on time and according to excepted performance level. Among other, providing plans and training to end-user of the equipment.

Focus is on VoC, health & safety considered in all aspect during development and operation of the equipment, ensue reliability and the capability of the equipment.

The Project Manager reports functionally and operationally to the Director of tooling engineering.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute projects within the defined requirements, establish and maintain a usable project plan, determine the resources required to complete the project

  • Define the scope of the project in collaboration with involved parties, considering safety, cost, quality, time, and risk

  • Determine the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion

  • Identify qualified supplier with appropriate skills for the project activities, coordinate activities with internal and external resources

  • Work together with engineers and technicians at the shopfloor, workshops, and plants. Ability to listen, discuss, learn, and guide.

  • Collaborate closely with tooling engineering, Blade Design Engineering, Process / Manufacturing Engineering and Plant teams to understand their requirements

  • Develop and implement solutions that are feasible for prototype and serial production.

  • Ensure development and review of the technical requirement specification for line equipment and tooling and VoC captured, align expectations towards customer.

  • Leading by example, coordinate, track, manage projects “end to end” for tooling and line equipment design, implementation in LM plant according to project stage gate process.

  • Drive DFMEA / PFMEA activities, proactive communication, risks evaluation throughout the project execution

  • Ownership of technical dossier, cradle to grave accountability, from specification to handover to end user including training programs for operators

  • Responsible for FAT, SAT & verification validation of all the deliverables

Daily management

  • Project management, ensure compliance to project manual, prepare, facilitate & execute gate reviews

  • Ongoing alignment with system responsible (horizontals), execute cross functional workshops and establish work streams to support execution of our targets

  • Participate in weekly planning meetings, ensure resources assignment & timely delegation

  • Execute regular load meetings with project participants, ensure efficient utilization of resources

  • Contribute to monthly meetings, status update ongoing projects/gate overview, ownership safety moment, lessons learned and knowledge sharing

Required Qualifications

  • Master or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent

  • 5+ years’ experience in leading projects, a proven track record with product or technology development

  • Familiar with Lean tools is an advantage, e.g., problem-solving techniques like 8D

  • Project Management certification is an advantage

Key skills for Project Manager, tooling engineering

  • Project management expertise, knowledge of stage gate models, project management software tools e.g., Microsoft project, Smart sheet, methodologies and best practices

  • Design experience knowledge in mechanical system, tooling design for industrial applications like composite manufacturing, line equipment, lifting application and installations

  • Working knowledge of CAD software: NX Unigraphics, Solid works, AutoCAD, Catia, and Axapta / PDM (team center)
